Chapter 55

{Chris's POV} 

The following morning Shelly, Ronnie, and I are sitting in the SUV with the heat on waiting for the principal to open the front doors. 

"Daddy do I still have to talk with a therapist?" Ronnie asked. 

"Only if you feel comfortable talking to a therapist." I said. 

"I don't really feel comfortable talking to a stranger about my problems." 

"Sweetheart the therapist isn't going to judge you if that's what you are worried about. The therapist will help you work through your problems a lot more than what your mom and I can." 

"I'll tell Mrs. Davis that I will visit school therapist." She replied. 

When the principal opened the doors, I turned off the heater and killed the engine Shelly and I climbed out of the SUV, I opened the door to the backseat and unbuckled Ronnie. I helped her out of the SUV and closed the door Shelly and I followed Ronnie inside the school and walked her to her classroom. When we arrived at Ronnie's classroom Shelly and I knelt down to her level and hugged her. 

"Have a good day your mother and I love you." 

"I love you too,"

Shelly and I hugged Ronnie she returned our hugs Shelly and I rose to our feet and watched her walk inside the classroom. We left the school and climbed back inside the SUV, I put the key into the ignition and started the engine I turned on the heater and drove away. 

"Baby, I was thinking after Ronnie's punishment is up, we give her, her birthday party." I suggested. 

"Sounds good to me and I'm surprised that Ronnie didn't throw a hissy fit when you told her that she's grounded for two weeks." Shelly said.

"She knew she was wrong," 

When we arrived home, I parked in front of the house I turned off the heater and killed the engine Shelly and I removed our seat belts we climbed out of the SUV. We walked up to the house I opened the storm door and unlocked the front door and opened it I followed Shelly inside the house. I closed the front door behind us and clocked it I took off my coat and hung it up I followed Shelly into the living room. We sat down on the couch and watched TV, she snuggled into my side I wrapped my arm around her. 

"Babe when would you like to get married?" Shelly asked, laying her head on my shoulder. 

"I'm ready whenever you are." I smiled. 

"Since it will only be your family and friends attending, we could get married in a chapel instead of a church." 

"I'm fine with that and we can see if my mom, dad, Nick, or Jen will look after Ronnie after we get married so we can have alone time just you and me." 

I grabbed my Tampa Bay Lightning throw blanket off the back of the couch and covered us up Salem and Precious came into the living room and jumped up on the couch. 

"I would like to include Ronnie in the wedding party." Shelly said. 

"Ronnie could be flower girl and then you have to find bridesmaids." I replied. 

"Yeah, that's going to create a problem since I don't have any friends and my sister stopped talking to me years ago." 

Shelly and I snuggled on the couch and watched South Park until it was time to get Ronnie from school. I put on my coat and left the house I walked down to the SUV and unlocked the doors I climbed behind the wheel I put the key into the ignition and started the engine I reached over and turned on the heater. As I was letting the engine warm up, I spotted Shelly walking towards the SUV, she opened the passenger side door and climbed inside the SUV and put on her seat belt. 

"I figured you would want to stay home where it's warm." I said. 

"I changed my mind," Shelly replied, turning up the heater. 

After the engine warmed up, I drove away when we arrived at Ronnie's school I parked in front of the school and left the engine running to keep Shelly warm. 

"You always did hate when it was chilly there were times you would sit in my car when we were in high school." 

"My dad would drive to me school and then I would have to stand outside in the elements but you were generous enough to let me sit in your car with your friends."

"I wasn't about to leave you standing out in the elements. Later on, I'll run you a warm bath and join you." I said. 

"A warm bath with you later sounds lovely." Shelly smiled. 

Shelly and I spotted Ronnie's class coming out of school I climbed out of the SUV and stepped onto the sidewalk. Ronnie spotted me and ran towards me, I picked her up and placed her on my hip. I spotted Maya walking towards me. 

"Hi uncle Chris. Where's aunt Shelly?" 

"She's sitting in the SUV. Would you like to say hi to her?" 

"Please," Maya said. 

I put Ronnie down Maya followed us to the SUV, Shelly opened the passenger side door. 

"Hello Maya." 

"Hi aunt Shelly." 

"Maya, would you like to sit in the SUV until your parents come?" I asked. 

"Yes please," Maya said. 

I opened the door to the back seat I helped Maya into the backseat I picked Ronnie up and placed her in her car seat and buckled her in I closed the car door. I spotted Mike and Hilary walking across the street I opened the door to the back seat I helped Maya out of the back seat and closed the door. 

"Thanks for keeping Maya until we arrived." 

"No problem, Maya wanted to see Shelly."  

Mike, Hilary, and Maya walked across the street I walked around the SUV and climbed behind the wheel and drove away. 

"Ronnie how was your day?" I asked, stopping at a stop sign before continuing to drive. 

"My day was good and I talked to Mrs. Davis in private." Ronnie said. 

"What did Mrs. Davis say when you talked to her." 

"Mrs. Davis said that she won't force me to talk to the school therapist and she said that if I need someone to talk too that I should talk to you or mommy or another family member." 

When we arrived home, I parked in front of the house I turned off the heater and killed the engine. Shelly and I removed our seat belts and climbed out of the SUV, I stepped onto the sidewalk Shelly was helping Ronnie out of the back seat. We walked up to the house I opened the storm door and unlocked the front door I followed Ronnie and Shelly inside the house I closed the front door behind us and locked it. I took off my coat and hung it up Ronnie handed me her book bag and coat I hung them up I walked into the living room I grabbed the remote off the coffee table and sat down in the recliner I turned on the TV and put on Cartoon Network. 

"Daddy what can I do since I am grounded?" Ronnie asked, walking into the living room. 

"If you go get some books from your room, I'll read to you." I offered. 

She left the living room Shelly came into the living room and sat down on the couch I got up from the recliner and sat beside Shelly. Ronnie came back into the living room carrying five books she walked over to the couch and handed me the books. She sat down on the couch beside me, I read to Ronnie. Later on, that night after Shelly and I tucked Ronnie into bed I kept my promise to her by running her a warm bath and joining her in the tub. Shelly leaned back against my chest and laid her head back on my shoulder I kissed her. 

"I kept my promise that I would run you a warm bath and join you." 

"I was going to ask you to join me in the tub anyway." 

When Shelly and I came out of the bathroom we climbed into bed I reached over and turned off the lamp and snuggled up behind her and drifted off to sleep.
