Chapter 43

{Chris's POV} 

The next morning, I woke up to get Ronnie ready for school I heard her crying I climbed out of bed and left the bedroom I walked down the hall and entered Ronnie's room. She was sitting in bed tugging at her ear I walked over to the bed and picked up my little girl I left the room and walked downstairs I entered the living room. I grabbed the remote off the coffee table and stretched out on the couch I turned on the TV, Ronnie laid her head on my chest I grabbed my Tampa Bay Lightning throw blanket off the back of the couch and covered us up. 

"I'm not sending you to school today your mom and I are going to take you to the doctors." 

"Daddy, my ears and throat still hurt." 

"That's why your mom and I are going to call the doctor later on this morning because I think you might have an ear infection and I'm not sure what's wrong with your throat." I said. 

Ronnie and I laid on the couch and watched Cartoon Network a few minutes later I heard Shelly coming down the stairs she came into the living room and walked over to the couch. 

"Is Ronnie feeling any better?" 

"No, I went to wake her up for school she was crying and tugging on her ear." 

"I'm going to call the doctor later on this morning because I think she might have an ear infection." Shelly said. 

"I hate seeing my little girl in this much pain I noticed that Ronnie is fussy which isn't like her." I replied. 

Shelly leaned down and kissed me she left the living room I checked on Ronnie; she was sleeping. Later on, that morning I was lounging on the couch with Ronnie, Shelly came into the living room. 

"Ronnie, would you like to get dressed before we go to the doctors?" 

"No thank you, mommy." 

"Babe, Ronnie has an early doctor's appointment this morning." Shelly said, picking up the remote and turning off the TV. 

I got up off the couch and left the living room I grabbed Ronnie's sweat jacket and put her down I helped Ronnie put on her sweat jacket and zipped it up. I climbed to my feet and put on my jacket I picked Ronnie up and placed her on my hip she laid her head on my shoulder. Shelly walked over to me, I grabbed her jacket and handed it to her Shelly put on her jacket we left the house. 

"Baby, do you mind driving?" 

"I don't mind," 

Shelly and I walked down to her car she unlocked the doors I opened the backseat door I placed Ronnie in her car seat and buckled her in I closed the door and climbed into the passenger seat Shelly started the engine and drove away. When we arrived at the doctor's office Shelly parked the car in the parking lot and killed the engine, we climbed out of the car I opened the backseat door I unbuckled Ronnie, she climbed out of the back seat. Ronnie wanted to be held I picked her up and placed her on my hip Shelly and I walked inside the doctor's office she signed Ronnie in we sat down in the waiting room. 

"Ronnie, do you want to go to your mom?" I asked. 

"No," Ronnie answered, laying her head on my shoulder. 

The other parents sitting in the waiting room with their kids were looking at me like I was strange a few minutes later a nurse came out and called Ronnie to the back Shelly and I followed the nurse into the back. We entered the office and waited for the doctor I sat Ronnie on the table and sat down in a chair against the wall beside Shelly. 

"Daddy, I want to get down." 

"You have to sit there and wait for the doctor and then you can get down I promise." 

The doctor came into the room and closed the door she greeted Shelly, Ronnie, and I, the doctor sat down and asked Ronnie questions she looked at Shelly and I. 

"Ronnie, it's okay the doctor wants to help you feel better." Shelly said reassuringly. 

Ronnie explained to the doctor that her ears hurt as well as her throat she let the doctor examine her. 

"Mr. and Mrs. Cerulli, Ronnie has a double ear infection as well as strep throat I will write her out a prescription and the medicine will take care of the ear infections and the strep throat Ronnie will take the medicine until they are all gone." 

"How long will Ronnie be out of school?" 

"She can go back to school next week when you go to leave stop at the front desk and ask for a doctor's note." the doctor answered. 

Ronnie wanted to be held I got up out of the chair and walked over to the table I helped Ronnie put on her sweat jacket and zipped it up I picked her up and placed her on my hip Shelly and I left the room and walked back to waiting area. Shelly and I walked up to the front desk to get Ronnie a doctor's note for school and walked to the pharmacy to get her prescription filled. We left the doctor's office and walked to the car Shelly unlocked the doors I opened the backseat door I placed Ronnie in her car seat and buckled her in I closed the door and climbed into the passenger seat. Shelly climbed behind the wheel and started the engine she turned on the heater and drove away. 

"Daddy can I snuggle with you when we go home?" 

"Yeah, you can snuggle with me when we go home." 

When we arrived home Shelly parked her car behind my SUV, she turned off the heater and killed the engine Shelly and I removed our seat belts and climbed out of the car. I opened the backseat door I unbuckled Ronnie, she climbed out of the backseat I closed the door Ronnie and I followed Shelly up to the house. Ronnie and I followed Shelly inside the house I closed the front door behind us and locked it I removed my jacket and hung it up I knelt down and unzipped Ronnie's sweat jacket she took off her sweat jacket and handed it to me I rose to my feet and hung it up. 

"Ronnie come into the kitchen and we'll give you some medicine." Shelly called. 

Ronnie headed for the kitchen I entered the living room I sat down on the couch and removed my Vans; I grabbed the remote off the coffee table and turned on the TV. I stretched out on the couch Ronnie came into the living room she walked over to the couch and climbed on me. 

"Did you take your medicine?" 

"Yes, daddy and I take it again before I go to bed." 

Ronnie laid her head on my chest I kissed her head we laid on the couch and watched Disney Junior.  Later on, that night after Shelly and I tucked Ronnie into bed we left her room and closed the door behind us Shelly and I walked back downstairs we entered the living room and sat down on the couch together. Shelly and I were watching Adult Swim on Cartoon Network she curled up beside me I wrapped my arm around Shelly, she laid her head on my chest. 

"I'm glad that Ronnie isn't fighting us when she has to take her medicine." Shelly said. 

"I noticed that Ronnie likes to snuggle with me when she doesn't feel good." I replied. 

Shelly and I were starting to get tired I turned off the TV and laid the remote on the coffee table Shelly turned off the lamp we left the living room and walked upstairs to bed.
