I looked up at him wide eyed in fear and confusion. Cole stepped closer to me, making my breath hitch. "How did you know?" I asked, making him smirk sending shivers down my spine. "Your friend, April, was a huge help. Although she has no recollection." Cole answered, making me confused but soon masked it.

"What do you want?" I asked as I pulled my wrist away from his grasp. He leaned down so our faces were almost touching as he replied. "You'll soon see." Cole said in a sinister voice before he disappeared.

Mustering up the courage to go back to the party when Damon saw me. He could easily read the fear on my features making him walk up to me knowing something clearly upset me.

"What's wrong?" He asked looking around at the people in the party. "Luke- Cole knows that we know." I answered quietly, making Damon's face harden.

"Did he touch you?" Damon asked as he put his hand on my shoulder to move away from the crowd. "I'm fine but he knows, Damon. He is planning something. Soon." I said making his features soft, raking his fingers through his hair harshly.

"I need to keep practicing. I need to be ready." I pressed with frantic eyes. "We need to start thinking up a plan for what he might do. Can Faye put up some sort of a protection spell against the town?" I asked, making him look towards the happy crowd.

"I don't know. I'll ask her when we get home. Just try to have fun until we leave. Everything will be fine." Damon replied, trying to reassure me but failing.

"I can't just pretend that-" I started until someone interrupted us. "Luna! Come on, it's time to open the rest of your presents." April beamed, making me put on a weak fake smile.

I walked back over to the party and saw there was a table covered in some gifts making me smile. "Thank you. You all really didn't have to get me anything." I said making April roll her eyes. "Be quiet, and open my gift first." She demanded, making me chuckle as she handed me her gift.

"April, it's beautiful." I said in awe as I saw a small locket inside a black velvet case. "Thank you so much." I said as I looked up at her and hugged her.

"Put it on! I want to see it for you." April said as I clasped it around my neck and ran my fingertips down it. "How does it look?" I asked her as she looked at it with a smile.

"I'm such a great gift giver." April stated through a smile making me chuckle. "It looks great on you, Luna." She said, making me smile.

The sun was starting to set as the party slowly thinned out. April, Liam and Damon and I were the only ones left in the bookstore sitting around laughing and chatting as we ate. I felt guilty for being so relaxed and happy with everything that was going on around us.

Walking alone through the bookshelves with a plastic bag trying to help clean up the trash and plastic cups. I heard something heavy fall on the hardwood floor behind me. Whipping my head around seeing a book lying in the middle of the aisle.

Looking around nervously wondering how it could've gotten there. Picking up the book reading the cover, "The Cosmic Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection ''. The book looked old and worn like it was from a different century. I wondered why a book like this would be here in April's family bookstore. Tracing my fingertips along the pages afraid the delicate, brittle book would crumble.

Carefully flipping through the pages noticing that it was annotated in someone's neat calligraphy handwriting. I stopped reading when I saw a drawing of a witch using his powers on a vampire making me read the text under it.

"Vampires have powers of their own but when it is against a witch, they are no match. If you encounter a vampire that wishes you harm, repeat this incantation." I read aloud to myself. "By the power of me, Gods, Goddesses and ancestors, I invoke thee. Banish all enemies. So, mote it be." I continued. Why would April's parents sell a book like this?
