"Cole? What's going on?" I asked as Liam opened the door revealing worried Cole. He hugged his coat around him tighter, protecting him from the night's wind and rain.
"Charles is on his way here to speak with you." Cole said, walking inside, shaking off his coat lightly. "How do you know he is coming over?" I asked as we all walked further inside the house.
I decided to quickly put a pot of water on for tea to help warm everyone up. Even though Cole and Liam were undead and hardly felt the effects of the harsh weather. I felt the need to do something.
"I have a friend that works with him. He would tell me when he and his associates would be out of town so I could... visit." He answered hesitantly before Luna spoke. "Visit?" He asked doubtedly, making Cole sigh. "I used to visit Sofia's grave whenever I could." He began instantly making Liam relax as his features filled with remorse.
"What do you think he has planned?" I asked nervously, making him shrug. "I don't know he didn't say if he is bringing associates of his." He replied.
"What if they all try to attack me?" I asked me knowing that I could possibly be carrying Damon and I's child right now. "Just defend yourself." Cole said confused in a slight duh tone.
"Thank you for telling us." I said nervously wondering how long I had before Charles came."Of course. I should be on my way." He said as we walked back to the door. Cole opened the door to Charles, Nickolas and his two men.
There was a loud roaring thunder and lightning illuminating their intimidating silhouettes. I stumbled back into Damon making him come between me and the door. Liam and Cole tended moving slowly away from them as they welcomed themselves inside.
"Ah, Cole! Not trying to kill the town I hope." Charles said as he slapped his shoulder playfully as he walked in. "And you... you must be Luna. I've heard so much about you." He continued coming up to Damon and I.
Charles wore a formal well fitted suit and dress shoes dripping power and money. He looked to be in his sixties but I knew he was very much older than that.
"I would say it's nice to finally meet you but then I'd be lying." I replied with a fake smile, making Charles hum amused. "So, what do you want to talk to me about." I asked as he smiled coldly.
"Well, first I would like to know how you killed Mathew." He asked. I filled with rage as I stepped closer to him showing I wasn't afraid. Even though I very much was.
"And I would like to know why you killed Harry." I replied, making Charles' face harden. "What do you know?" Charles spit in a low tone as he looked at me with a puzzled look. "Everything."
"Nonsense. No one knows the truth. The ones who did are all dead." He replied proudly, making my stomach turn. "Yeah, I'm aware." I said. He stared at me for a moment before his eyes widened in realization. "Ah! I see." He dragged out looking at me fondly.
"You have Agnes' ability to see ghosts. I should have known." Charles said in slight annoyance towards himself. "And may I ask what other powers you have?" He asked with a curious smile raking me up and down.
"You hired me. Shouldn't you know?" I bit back, making him smile wide in amazement.
"Well, aren't you just full of... charm." Charles said sarcastically as he shoved his hands in his pockets. "Yeah, and aren't you just full of-" Thankfully Damon cut me off.
"What are you doing here?" Damon asked, grabbing me protectively bringing me closer to him. "And this must be Damon. The ex-witch hunter." He said turning his fascination into Damon.
"I have to say it is quite impressive how much trouble you have caused in this small town of ours. First you don't kill Cole, you even befriend him." He motioned over to Cole who was still standing by the door itching to leave.
"You attack William and accuse the council of killing a witch. Then you murder Mathew in all what?" Charles listened as he turned to his bodyguards. "Five months?" He asked amused, making them nod.
"I just realized who the real threats were in this town." I threatened making him hum in response as he tried to fight a smug smile. "Too bad no one here can do anything about it. I run this town. Not you." He bit back as he took a step forward.
"So, do I have to kill you and your friends or are you going to make things even more difficult for everyone?" Charles asked. "I'm sure April and your parents would like to keep their lives. What were their names again? Tom and Isabelle?" He asked, looking over to his guards again.
I took a large stride towards him, making his guards come closer. "Don't you dare threaten them. Or I will kill you the same way I killed Mathew." She growled, making him smile as he stepped towards her again, so our faces were almost touching. "And how exactly was that?" He asked again, still curious to find out what happened to him.
"Just a few simple words." I smiled wickedly. "Impossible. You're bluffing. Spells don't work on us." Charles rambled nervously. "You claim to know everything, yet you don't know anything at all. You don't know what my powers are or even what I am capable of." I said suddenly dripping power and confidence.
"Yet you've come into my home and threatened me and my loved ones. Which is a very dangerous move." I said through my teeth. "Do you even know how easy it would be for me to crack the Earth beneath us, swallowing you whole?" I threatened in a menacing low voice inching my face closer to his.
"Did you know I could create lightning from thin air and strike you? How I can catch you on fire just by my mere touch? Or how I can break your men's necks before they could even bat an eye?" I continued. Charles' eyebrows raised watching me unable to retort.
"You thought that Thea and Sofia were a threat?" I laughed. "You have no idea just how wrong you are."
Charles' face hardened at my words before his face suddenly turned blank. Expressions passed across his face, but I could not read them. He hesitated to speak, then began to take me up and down before his eyes landed on my stomach. Charles' eyes went wide as if he was caught with a sudden epiphany.
I was stiff, unable to move and avert my gaze away from him, studying him. I began to tremble as his mouth parted into a weak smile of disbelief. "You're pregnant." He took a step back shoving his hands in his pockets.
"What?" Damon asked behind me. My heart dropped but I tried to not let it show. Standing tall, blinking away my tears as his eyes occasionally looked down at my stomach. My eyes narrowed at him as his two body guards behind Charles looked at one another confused. I struggled to keep up appearances and I was unfazed by his words.
"A hunter knocked up a witch?! Oh, God that's fucking rich." One of his guards laughed. "Luna, is that true? Tell them he's lying." Damon continued sternly grabbing me protectively trying to pull me away from Charles.
"Go ahead. Tell him what he wants to hear." Charles replied as I was unable to speak to either of them. Afraid that if I did so I would break down crying and confess all of my suspicions onto Damon.
Charles took a large stride towards me so we were almost touching. "But you and I both know I'm not. I'm going to kill you and that little half breed too." He growled towering over me.
"Don't worry." He began again, his previous threatening tone flew out the window. "Not now. It'll be when you least expect it." Charles smiled wickedly, sending a chill down my spine as he moved away from me.
"Hope you all have a... wonderful evening." Charles said with his guards following closely behind him. My body jumped hearing the slamming of the door behind them.
"Are you alright?" Cole and Liam rushed towards us, making me nod, failing to apply a smile. "Yeah." I breathed. There was a long silence as all three of them struggled to say the words out loud afraid of what the answer would be. Or how I would react.
"Are you pregnant?" Damon breathed out pulling me aside though Cole and Liam could still hear clearly. "No," I nervously laughed it off. Damon stayed quiet seeing right through me.
"I-I don't know. I'm sure he was just trying to get a rise out of me." I said, making him nod.
Even though everything was pointing to me being pregnant, I still wanted to know for sure before telling him and jumping to conclusions.
