Dom watched through her living room window as Kat began to pout the entire way home. She would turn back to test if the woman would change her mind about sending her across the street. A soft smile and disagreeing nod left Kat playfully stomping towards her front door. As soon as the redhead disappeared, Dom studied her text message once more. Ray wanted her to call him and she knew it would be about Kat. She made herself comfortable in bed, her fingers hovering over his name. They were friends, at least Dom felt they were and so there was nothing she should fear when speaking to him. But somewhere inside, she felt apprehensive about hearing his voice.

It rung once.

Twice.

Dom was about to give up when Ray answered. She held her breath for a moment, unsure of what the man would want to say or ask her. But somehow her worries washed away the moment he greeted her.

'Hey Dom, sorry for asking you to call so late.' His voice was normal, calm.

'Uh, yeah sure thing.' Dom brushed her fingers through her hair, still pondering what the man could possibly want.

'Is Kat still there?'

'Didn't you just call seconds ago?' The brunette giggled. 'She just went home.'

'Good.'

'Good?' Dom questioned, her fingers smoothing against her bed sheets as Ray sighed on his end. She was nervous and she knew it. The uncertainty of the situation worrying her.

'It seems as if my wife is going off the book and doing whatever it is that she wants. I've decided to talk to you directly since you're more sensible in the matter of what I have to deal with lately.'

'Oh.' The brunette's house sat eerily quiet as she tried to focus on the man's voice on the receiving end. He paused, his breath catching in the phone.

'Kat and I had an agreement about keeping me filled in about what's going on. She somehow believes that you have an equal say so in the matter at hand.'

'And you don't?'

'I don't think that you do.' Ray couldn't be seen, but his jaw clenched, his teeth trailing over his lips just before he spoke once more. 'I know you two are usually together and it's not always in a sexual manner but when it is, I'd like to be filled in.'

'Don't your think that's a little weird?' Dom rose her eyebrow, staring out into her darkened room as Ray scratched his neck on the other end of the phone.

'Isn't this entire situation a little weird? I'm just asking to be notified. That's all. The rest I can deal with later when my wife calls me.' Dom couldn't pinpoint why the man's superior complex over the matter at hand bugged her so much. Maybe it was because her heart was invested way more than it should have been.

'I don't know if it's my place to butt into your marriage like that. If Kat doesn't tell you then....'

'You've already squirmed your way in. She's my wife and I need us to be on the same page.'

'Squirmed?' Dom nodded at the statement, her fingers patting her own knee. 'Interesting choice of words considering I was asked to do this.'

'I don't want to fight with you.'

'Good because there was nothing to fight about in the first place. I'll talk to Kat, but that's all I can do.' The phone lines grew silent, a whimpering Bernie was the only indication that the man hadn't hung up.

'I'm sorry for getting upset, it's just... I already feel like I'm losing her.' Ray sighed once more.

'You're not.' Dom shook her head at her own words. 'She loves you.' Both true and wavering words.
