It was the end of night one in Calgary. Kat had curdled up in one of her living room chair with a book placed between her thighs. Her shorts could hardly be seen under her long t-shirt, her fingers clawing the bottom of the fabric as she read the murder mystery in her lap. The day at the office for the table read went by quickly. Dom continued to avoid her which made her a bit intrigued at the idea of the woman playing hard to get. Kat's phone vibrated at her side, she glanced over to find that the brunette had sent a message. She didn't respond, nor did she reach for the device as she attempted to finish the chapter.

A knock came to her door, her face turning up, the time was nearing midnight. Kat slowly stood, her bare feet brushing against the cold hardwood floor as she trailed to see who was there. To say seeing Dom was a surprise would make her a liar. The brunette was staying in the adjacent building next to hers upon the smaller woman's request. Kat held her book in one hand her index finger keeping her page held as she inched her door open.

     "Dom, it's late."

"I know. I wanted to tell you that this is not just about sex." The brunette held a pillow against her chest as Kat studied her.

     "Okay. Uh..."

"But I do want to sleep here, platonically, tonight." Dom thumbed her pillow for a moment as Kat's eyes turned up with her smile.

"Come in." The redhead stepped back watching as the brunette brushed past in her nightgown, her pillow still clutched tightly in front of her. Kat smirked, locking up once more before following after the woman. The apartment was new, neither had ventured inside before today and so Dom took her time examining the taller woman's temporary home for the next five months. Kat chuckled at how the brunette was avoiding eye contact with her. They both wanted to do nothing more than to finally just be within the others presence and shed their clothing, but if this was a game the younger woman wanted to play, Kat was aiming to win.

"I'm going to finish a few more chapters of my book." Kat rose the bonded object in the air, opening it before trailing into her room. Dom instinctively followed, mimicking the redhead as they both climbed into bed. Kat pressed her back against the headboard, her eyes actually going against the words on the page as Dom placed her pillow next to the woman. She snuggled in close to Kat, laying on her stomach as her fingers trailed across the woman's thighs, resting against her upper waist. The unexpected contact caused Kat to peer down at her friend, before relaxing once more.

"I suppose I should apologize about that hickey." Dom stroked her fingers against Kat's covered waist.

"It's okay. I covered it up well enough."

"What did Ray say to you?" There was this underlying curiosity still within Dom to prove Melanie wrong about her earlier statement. Kat lowered her book, gazing down at the brunette below her.

     "Why do you ask?"

"Was he mad that you came home later or like, did he see your hickey?"

"Uh...no. I mean, yes and no. Yes he was upset because he had an entire night planned for us, but...no, he didn't see the hickey." Kat bent back one of her book pages, closing it before giving Dom her full attention. "He did see the marks along my waist and shoulder though."

     "Was he mad?"

"...He uh..he thought we somehow caused them so." Kat sighed, wondering why the woman with her wanted to know more about her husband's reaction. "Dommie you okay?"

"I know that you have a husband and maybe this isn't the best situation to be putting either of us in but...." The brunette slid her face closer to Kat's covered thigh, her nose pressing against the fabric. "But I like this feeling, and I want to explore it a bit longer."
