Once again, a longer chapter. And to those leaving comments, you make writing a new chapter even easier. And you know, maybe I get straight to the point.
Dom made her way towards Melanie's place with so many things on her mind. The weather outside was nice for a walk and so she instructed her driver to let her out a few blocks away so she could pace the street. Her mind was going through all of the same lines she and Kat would say to one another. Dom was surprised she wasn't exhausted by the action. She did her best to numb that organ in her chest, the one that she finally began listening to. She took her feelings for what they were, knowing that she would do anything to keep her friend close. Losing even a fraction of what she had with the redhead woman would crack her heart and she wasn't too sure if she'd be able to live with that.
The quiet street turned into a small dead end, Melanie's apartment coming up close as Dom studied the house she was about to walk into. If only she had someone to speak about this with, maybe she wouldn't want to pull her own hair out. She didn't despise Ray, she actually enjoyed the man's company when he wasn't trying to manage Kat between them. The brunette pushed her fingers through her hair, stopping in front of that familiar two-floor apartment before taking a breath. Melanie would judge her and she knew it, but she needed someone other than Kat to talk to about this.
Dom rung the doorbell and a voice told her to walk in. It was Sunday afternoon and Melanie was already breading and flipping things in the kitchen between the batter. Dom pulled off her light jacket, placing it neatly onto the coat rack before walking into the dining room where her friend had been kneading dough.
"Hey Mel." The brunette hugged her friend from behind, her cheek brushing against the woman's back as a floured hand patted the back of her hand.
"Hey babygirl, you're actually early enough to help."
"Yeah." Dom walked away to wash her hands, her words clouding her mind as she tried to pick and choose what she would say to her friend. She returned with her hair pulled into a ponytail and dripping wet hands.
"What's with the face?" Melanie questioned as Dom grabbed some of the dough and began to roll it out.
"I need to talk to you."
"What happened?"
"Nothing bad I promise." Dom admitted although the woman might think otherwise. "Well, nothing other then me being condemned for."
"What?" Melanie was honestly confused until she saw the sparkle fall from her friend's gaze. "Is this about Kat?" The woman brought up. Dom nervously opened her mouth before closing it, her stomach twisting as she silently nodded. "Dom, if you're worried about me knowing... I know."
"You know what?" The younger brunette gazed up as her friend rose an eyebrow.
"I know." Melanie repeated, finally flattening out the dough against the table.
"Who told you?"
"No one had to tell me. I could see it on your face and hers."
"Are we talking about the same thing?" Dom didn't want to have to say the words aloud, not if her friend already knew what was going on.
"Yes." Melanie exasperated. "I know that you've been giving some of your goods to the milkman. The milkman being that half ginger." The older brunette grabbed a bowl of mixed vegetables and slid them between the two of them. Dom dropped her head for a moment, her cheeks growing warm as she whispered under her breath. "What was that?"
"When did you find out?"
"I had my suspicions when I saw you walking around set, or shall I say hardly walking. You were practically floating around the place. Plus, I spoke to Kat the other day."
