Melanie patiently sat in the makeup chair, her eyes shifting towards the door at every inkling of sound. Kat had been gone for several minutes now and Dom still hadn't returned. The older woman found herself in full mama bear slash sister mode. Just as the curling iron was pulled away from her hair, she stood up and stepped towards the door. The steel frame opening before she could even pull at the knob. Dom stood before her. The brunette's face was beet red with obvious tears pushed away. With a soft hand, Melanie pulled her friend into her, a whisper leaving her lips.
"Are you okay?"
Dom nodded against her cheek, pulling back before making her way towards her own hair and makeup chair. The brunette was out of it, her eyes glazed over and her breath trying to keep up with the tight pang in her chest.
"Where's Kat?" Mel asked.
"What?" Dom mustered up to question.
"Kat? The annoyingly red ginger whom went out looking for you?"
Dom's brow furrowed as she shrugged, gazing down at the table in front of her as Melanie scoffed. The brunette hadn't seen the woman when she trailed off in tears and she hadn't spotted her on her way back either.
"I'll go find her." Mel uttered, making her way out into the bright sunlight. There weren't many places to hide away on set, but at the same time there were a ton of places to escape to. Melanie wasn't in the mood to play hide and seek. She pulled her phone up from her pocket and thumbed the screen, finding her friend's number before dialing. It rung twice, instantly sending her to voicemail. "You did not just end my call." Mel stomped, searching the land for Kat's trailer. It was the best place to check first considering it wasn't too far away.
With a knock against the frame, the woman let herself in to a sight she hadn't expected. Kat was there, her back pressed against the wall between the small sink and cabinets. The place was spotless as usual, nothing out of sorts except for the woman with tears against her cheeks.
"I can't deal with you right now." The redhead stammered, her hands brushing her cheeks as the cascading tears continued to fall.
"Are you okay?"
With a glare from the taller woman, Melanie sighed. Kat tossed her head back against the wall, softly pushing herself down the length before sitting on the floor. Her friend couldn't see her at this point. The older woman paced over to get a good look at the sight she had found herself upon. Kat wasn't one to break, she was tough on all occasions and even if she was annoyed with a situation she held strong. Seeing her like this was new.
"I didn't mean if you were 'okay' as in 'alright.' I meant, okay as in, you can tell me."
"Didn't you just get done yelling at me?" The redhead groaned, trying to stop the waterfall that made its way against her skin.
"I won't take back what I said about you and Dom. I won't." Mel shook her head. "But I can see the pain on your face." The brunette sighed, dropping to her knees in her Wynonna outfit before shuffling close. She placed a palm against her friend's leg. "Someone has to be tough in this situation and this time it just so happens to be me." Mel smirked, only to receive a darker glare. "Talk to me."
Kat shook her head softly, leaning against the wall as she choked back the whimper in her throat. Mel was there, she wanted to know. But if she was going to constantly just give her honest opinion, at this current time, Kat didn't know if she wanted to hear it. She could feel the harsh thrumming of her heart against her chest. The reality of the situation hitting the redhead hard. If she couldn't fix what was going on, she knew that she was going to be broken for a long while.
