You always complain about it being too warm when fighting. But, now that you're fighting H.Y.D.R.A in a snowstorm, I'd kill for some normal body heat.

Granted you have to kill anyway, but you at least want something out of it.

"You know, I find it unfair that you can control your body heat," you huff, blocking a mutant agents hits.

"Are you always this chatty when fighting?" he asks, his accent thicker than the snow you can't move in.

"Yeah, that's why people tend to try and take me out first," you admit. He grabs your neck and you struggle to breathe. Not because he's squeezing, but because he's taking away what body warmth you have left. He drops you in the snow. You try to crawl away but he kicks snow over you. You glare up at him, your teeth chattering so hard you can't speak.

"So, you don't like the weather?" he muses. He stomps on your ankle, effectively shattering it before covering everything but your head with snow.

"Dick move, Snow Miser," you stutter. He buries the rest of you with snow and you close your eyes, trying to focus on breathing.

The longer you're buried, the more depressing thoughts enter your mind.

Is this how people felt when you couldn't save them in New York? Sicovia? Is this how Wanda felt when you couldn't bring Pietro back? The one thing you're supposed to be good at you couldn't even do when it matters most.

Saving people.

Maybe this is how it's supposed to go. It's karma. You couldn't save everyone, so the lost souls want you to feel how they felt. You're past the part of your body warming before numbing. You went straight to numb.

You let yourself fade away, accepting that this is how you go out. Not some big battle, not jumping in front of a bullet for someone.

A damn Russian-made avalanche.

Your breathing starts to stutter and slow, letting you know that it's time to let go.

But sadly, you can't. You still have too many jobs to do.

Like stop H.Y.D.R.A once and for all.

And you've been putting off the dishes for too long.

"(Y/N)!" You try to call out but stupidly get a mouthful of snow.

"(Y/N), can you hear me?" Light pierces through the dark abyss. You crack your eyes open. Hands grab you from the snow, hoisting you off the ground and into their arms. You can't feel them. You can't feel anything.

"Is she alive? F.R.I.D.A.Y?"

"There's a pulse, sir." You hear collective sighs of relief. You look up at the person holding you and try to move your frozen lips.

"Tony?" His eyes meet mine, his posture relaxing a little.

"Hey, honey. Are you okay?" You curl into his chest.

"I wanna feel my body." He chuckles, shifting you a little.

"C'mon. Let's get you warmed up." Tony carries you back to the jet, setting you down on the bench. Immediately, blankets are thrown on you. Tears prick your eyes as feeling returns to your body, giving a burning sensation.

"I take it back. I wanna be numb," you whine. Tony chuckles. Steve rushes to the cockpit and kneels in front of you.

"Are you okay? I'm sorry I didn't realize you were missing. I got hit and Bruce almost went berserk when I tried to get up to find you. Bucky's going insane back at the compound." You smile weakly.

"I'm fine, Steve. Are you?" He nods, wincing a bit when he shifts.

"Just a scratch." You frown, glancing at his abdomen through the piles of blankets.

"Doesn't look like 'just a scratch.'" He sits by your hip, making sure to keep in physical contact with you the whole flight home, worried you'll disappear. Or freeze.

Ever since you joined the Avengers, you and Steve have been glued to the hip. Everyone took bets on when we'd get together. Imagine their surprise when they found out we were setting each other up with other people.

Like the time he tried to get with Peggy's niece. Sharon, you think? Thank God you were there to stop that runaway train.

No, you're actually dating his best friend. Bucky.

And you guarantee Steve wasn't exaggerating when he said Bucky's going insane right now. The quinjet touches down and you hear shouting from outside.

"Where is she?" You open your eyes, just barely comprehending the words in your half asleep state.

"Buck, she's fine. Just tired," Steve assures as Bucky storms onto the jet. You sit up slowly,  your muscles still thawing. Bucky helps you sit up before pulls you to him, effectively warming you up some more.

"Doll, you're freezing. What happened?"

"A stupid H.Y.D.R.A agent through it would be funny to reenact Steve's 1945 crash." Steve snorts and Bucky tightens his arms around you.

"I'm going to kill every last one of them," Bucky growls. You start to stand but Bucky scoops you in his arms, having none of it. We parade off of the jet so Clint can take it home.

"Not before Capsicle here, does. Should've seen him when we couldn't find (Y/N), let alone let him help find her," Clint says in passing, clasping Steve's shoulder. He winks at you, his eyes showing his concern for your still blue lips.

"I'm fine, Clint. Go home. Give Laura and the kids my love." He salutes you and Nat hops into the copilot seat, blowing you a kiss. You smirk at her as the jet takes off. "Bucky, I can walk," you promise.

"You have a broken ankle." You groan, looking at Steve.

"You told him?" He raises his hands in mock defeat.

"He would've choked me for information through the phone if I hadn't." You roll your eyes, letting your head rest against Bucky's shoulder, happy to be home and warm.

'Cause it's too cold for you here

And now, so let me hold

Both your hands in the holes of my sweater
