You stand around the time travel machine, everyone but you in badass space looking suits.

"Just another Thursday, huh?" you mumble. Steve chuckles next to you and tucks a stray piece of hair behind your ear before turning back to the rest of the team.

"All right. We have a plan. Six stones, three teams, one shot. Five years ago, we lost. All of us. We lost friends. We lost family. We lost a part of ourselves," Steve says, taking your hand. You squeeze it, knowing he's thinking about Bucky and Sam.

"I know," you whisper. He clears his throat and continues.

"Today, we have a chance to take it all back. You know your teams, you know your missions. Get the stones, get them back. One round trip each. No mistakes. No do-overs. Most of us are going somewhere we know. But it doesn't mean we should know what to expect. Be careful. Look out for each other. This is the fight of our lives. And we're gonna win. Whatever it takes. Good luck." You smile at your boyfriend, proud of him for getting through this. Natasha looks at you and Steve, smirking

"See you in a minute." You laugh, winking at her.

"Finally our line is accurate, huh?" She grins, most likely thinking about all of the times we've said 'see you in a minute' to each other before missions. "See you in a minute, sis. Be safe. You too, Clint," you instruct. He salutes you.

"Can't disobey a Romanoff." You roll your eyes and look at Steve, nodding your head. You walk off of the platform and stand a safe distance away from the machine. Bruce turns on the machine and you watch as your family gets sucked into the past.

"They'll be okay," you whisper to yourself. You sit on the wheelie chair and spin around to keep yourself distracted for a minute. You spin, thinking of all the things that go could go wrong. Three people who make up your whole world are in the past. In potentially dangerous and deadly situations. Before your brain can send you into to a panic attack, the machine buzzes.

You look up and watch as they come back one by one with, hopefully, the stones. Once everyone is back you rush up onto the platform and jump into Steve's arms. He picks you up and you wrap your legs around his waist, burying your face in his neck.

"I'm okay. We're all okay," he assures. He sets you down and you turn around to hug your sister but freeze them you see Clint standing there, his body wet and face blank. The room goes silent and your hands shake.

"Clint, where's Nat?" you ask, your voice wavering. He puts the stone down and stays silent. You stand there, trying to comprehend what's happening. Bruce falls to his knees, obviously accepting what you won't.

"(Y/N), I'm so sorry," Clint says. You look to where Nat was standing less than two minutes ago.

See you in a minute.

Your chest caves in on itself and you fall to the ground. Clint gathers you in his arms and rocks you back and forth, holding you while you fall apart.

You've learned to fall apart silently. To keep your emotions at bay. To shove them down and to use them for fighting. But not this. Not when the one thing that's been constant in your life has been ripped away from you.

Every atom of your being screams in unison, the loss of your sister filling your chest, crushing your heart with each thought, each memory that crosses your mind. You curse the world, the universe, your life. She was the best of the two of you. The best part of you. The one with the most promise. The one who would always save the world.

See you in a minute.

You grip onto Clint, begging the universe to bring her back.

"I want to take her place," you announce once you calm down enough to speak coherently. Clint pulls away and grabs you by your shoulders.

"Don't say that. She would beat my ass if anything happened to you." Fresh tears roll down your cheeks and he helps you stand. He hands you off to Steve who immediately wraps his arm around your waist.

"I'm taking her to our room," Steve informs quietly. Your knees lock and you almost fall to the ground but Steve picks you up. You curl into his chest, trying to drive away all thoughts from your mind.

Once in your shared bedroom, he lays you on the bed and doesn't hesitate to lay next to you. He wraps you in his arms and rubs your back as the final pieces of your heart fall apart.

"She's really gone," you whisper. He moves you closer to his chest and you close your eyes.

"We won't let her die in vain, as cheesy as that sounds." You clench your hands, anger filling your being.

"I want to be the one to kill him, Steve. I want to be the one to kill Thanos."

You catch the makeshift infinity stone glove Peter threw at you and slip it on without a second thought. You saw Strange hold up a finger to Tony.

This is the one. The one scenario. The one chance.

And you're going to be the one to take it.

You spit out blood and grin. Thanos looks back at you, realization dawning on him.

You're going to end him.

"Who are you?" He asks, alarm filling his features.

"(Y/N) Romanoff." You snap your fingers and a blinding light filling the battlefield. Pain equivalent to a thousand bullets engulfs your being. You fall to the ground and lean against a scrape of metal from the compound. You look around the battlefield, your vision blurry and your lungs barely able to support you.

"(Y/N)!" Steve screams, sliding the next to you. He looks at your burnt and bloodied body. Tears stream down his soot covered face. You smile softly at him and lift your hand weakly. He clasps your hand to his cheek and kisses the palm of your hand gently.

"(Y/N), why?" Tony asks, tears filling his eyes. "It was supposed to be me."

"You have Morgan, Pepper, and Peter. I had Natasha," you respond weakly.

"And us. You have us," Steve cries. Your heart slows but still aches for the life you're leaving behind.

"It's okay, Steve. It's okay. Take— take care of Clint. God knows he needs it." Clint laughs through his tears and kisses the top of your head.

"We love you. We love you so much."

"I love you." You smile and look past everyone at Natasha. She smiles softly. She winks at you and starts to walk away, expecting you to follow. You close your eyes, a smile still on your lips as you breathe out your final words,

"See you in a minute."
