You roll into a sitting position and groggily scoot off the bed. You walk to the crib and lift her up, shushing her cries.

"It's alright, darling. It's okay. I get nightmares, too," you whisper to your daughter. Her cries fade as you rock her, humming the song your mom would sing to you after a nightmare.

"Is she alright?" Someone asks from the doorway. You turn carefully, still rocking her.

"Yeah. She's alright. I'm sure she's just lonely." Steve walks over to and smiles down at her.

"She looks like you," he comments. You smile, kissing her tiny fingers.

"She has his eyes, though." Steve nods. Maria grabs into his finger and squeals in delight. You beam up at him and he looks shocked. "What?"

"I thought she'd be scared of me," he admits.

"Why? Because you're so scary? Steve, you're a teddy bear. Besides, you told her enough stories while she was in the womb that she knows your voice." His face relaxes into a smile and he wraps his non occupied arm around your shoulder.

I lean into him, watching as Maria fiddles with Steve's finger.

"Do you think he knows we miss him?" you ask Steve. His arm tightens a little around you in a reassuring way.

"Yeah. I think he knows." You nod, biting your lip.

"Sometimes I still hope he'll come walking through the doors, you know? All nonchalant like he does. Like he wasn't presumed dead for five months." Steve chuckles.

"He would, too. He'd be like 'sorry, I got held up.'" You and Steve both laugh at that. Maria looks up at you and Steve and gives a sweet smile.

"She's lucky she has everyone here." Steve looks down at you.

"You have everyone here, too." You smile softly.

"I know. I just- I know how hard it is to grow up without a father." You yawn, setting Maria back in her crib. Her eyes droop and soon she's asleep. You kiss your fingers and press them gently to her forehead. "I'm sorry she woke you up."

"She didn't. I don't sleep much anyway."

"You need sleep, Steve. Who's gonna save the world otherwise? Not Sleepy Steve," you tease. He snorts.

"I know." His eyes turn sad and your heart squeezes. When you lost your husband, he lost his best friend. You both lost someone dear to us.

"What do you say I make my famous latte?" Steve's eyes light up a tad.

"Sounds great." You slip on your robe and together you and Steve walk out of your room.

"FRIDAY, let me know if Maria wakes up."

"Will do, Mrs. Barnes."

"Thank you." You and Steve walk down the steps and into the kitchen. Tony is unsurprisingly standing in the kitchen making coffee. "You beat me to it," you pout. Tony turns around, surprised to see you and Steve standing there.

"Why are you up?"

"Did you not hear Maria?" He shakes his head. You roll your eyes playfully. "You need hearing aids, old man." He hands you a cup of coffee and you gratefully take it. Steve takes a seat at the island next to you just as Tony hands him his cup.

"I've got the ears of an elephant," he argues. You snort.

"Yeah. Sure."

"Mrs. Barnes? Maria is in need of comfort," FRIDAY announces. You groan and stand.

"Don't touch my cup," you order to the boys. You run as quietly as you can to your room and pick up Maria, shushing her again. "Can't sleep long? Let's go downstairs with Uncle Tony and Uncle Steve, alright?" You snatch her binkey and blankey before heading back downstairs. "She's having trouble sleeping so I think I'll warm up some milk," you announce as you walk back into the kitchen.

You stop when you realize Tony and Steve aren't paying attention to you. You follow their line of sight and almost drop Maria.

"Sorry I'm late, doll. Got held up."

You hand Maria to Tony carefully before walking slowly over to Bucky. You reach out with shaking hands and touch his cheeks.

"You're alive," you cry. Bucky catches you as you throw your arms around him, sobbing.

"I'm here. I'm here and I'm not going anywhere." You stroke his hair as he buries his face into your neck, kissing it. You pull away and let Steve walk over. He immediately pulls Bucky in for a hug. Bucky wraps his arms around Steve, both of them clinging tightly to one another. Steve finally lets go and clasps Bucky's shoulder.

"At least you weren't gone for seventy years this time," Steve jokes. You laugh through your tears. Bucky nods to Tony and Tony grins.

"Welcome home, Barnes." Bucky's eyes wander to Maria and his smile fades. You walk over to Tony and take Maria before walking over to Bucky.

"Bucky, this is Maria Winifred Barnes."

"How long was I gone?" he chokes out. Maria looks up at him curiously, her dark eyes scanning over his features. A lopsided grin makes its way into her face and she opens and closes her hand. He hesitantly holds out a finger and she takes it, squeezing it.

"Almost five months." Tears fail from Bucky's cheeks and onto Maria's blanket.

"I'm so sorry. I'm so, so sorry." You shift Maria so she's stable in one arm while you cup Bucky's cheek. He looks at you, his eyes so sad and exhausted.

"It's okay, darling. It wasn't your fault. You're here now. That's what matters." He leans down and kisses you, letting his lips portray all the things you can't put in words.

I missed you.

I'm never leaving again.

I love you.
