Edmund's head snapped up the second he heard the keys in the lock.
His heart pounded as he sat there, waiting for the witch to enter.
It had been what felt like forever (but was really only half an hour) since the witch had left with Mr.Tumnus, and Edmund had a horrible feeling that the faun was no longer alive and most probably now a stone statue in the witches courtyard.
Edmund's heart continued to pound as the doors to the cell burst open and the white witch strode in, followed by Ginnabrik.
Edmund swallowed hard as he stared up at her, watching as she came to a stop a few feet in front of him.
"Now." Jadis spat, placing her hands on her hips. "Let's see if we can get this information out of you shall we?"
Edmund's eyes went wide as these words left her mouth, his heart now beating so fast he thought it would explode.
"Where are your siblings Edmund?" The witch asked. "Where is Aslan?"
Edmund stared up at her, taking a deep breath. "I-" He choked, licking his lips. "I don't know." He took a deep breath, trying his hardest to look like he'd told the truth, which he of course hadn't. He did know where Aslan was, and where his siblings were heading, but he told himself that he wouldn't tell her... no matter what happened to him.
Jadis glared at him. "Liar!" She suddenly screamed, so loudly that Edmund flinched.
The next thing he knew there was an almighty crack, and pain erupted from his right cheek.
He hit the floor with a gasp, eyes instantly filling with tears as he let out a quiet sob.
She just hit him, and with a sinking heart he realised that this probably wouldn't be the only time.
"Where are they Edmund?" He heard the witch say, a warning tone to her voice.
Edmund swallowed hard, and ignoring the pain, looked slowly back up at her. "I don't know." He choked, placing a hand over his cheek.
The witch stared at him for a long while before turning to Ginnabrik and snatching something from him.
Edmund watched her as she turned back around to face him, with what looked like a cup in her hand. "I don't think you wanna know what's in this cup Edmund." She said slowly, bending down so she was eye level with him. "But if you don't tell me where Aslan is, then you'll find out."
Edmund stared at her before glancing down at the cup, unable at the moment to see what was in it.
"So what will it be?" The witch said.
Edmund hesitated but silently told himself that he couldn't tell. He'd already betrayed his family, and he wouldn't do it again. "I said I left before they said anything." He said slowly, his heart hammering. "I don't know where Aslan is."
"Have it your way then." The witch spat, a smirk on her face as she clicked her fingers.
The next thing Edmund knew he'd been grabbed by Ginnabrik and pushed harshly against the wall, unable to go anywhere.
The witch knelt in front of him, purposely showing him what was inside the cup.
Edmund frowned at the almost brown liquid in it, filling it half way, it looked, and smelt, absolutely revolting.
"Drink it." The witch suddenly said.
Edmund's eyes went wide. "What?" He choked.
"I said, drink it." Jadis spat.
Edmund swallowed hard, shaking his head, now visibly trembling.
The witch glared at him before nodding slightly at Ginnabrik.
Before Edmund could do anything, the dwarf shoved his head against the wall and held his nose.
Edmund's eyes went wide in alarm as he tried to hold his breath, and he managed to, for about thirty seconds before he opened his mouth, letting out a loud gasp.
The second his mouth was open the witch pounced, forcing the whole cup into Edmund's mouth.
Edmund went to spit it out, the taste absolutely horrible, but Jadis slapped a hand over his mouth, and seeming as Ginnabrik still had hold of his nose he had no choice but to swallow it.
The second he had they both stepped away, causing Edmund to double over, gasping as the liquid practically burnt his throat. "What-" He gasped, but was unable to finish.
The witch smirked. "What was that?" She said, before laughing. "You'll find out in two weeks from now-" She paused for a moment. "That is if I haven't killed you before then."
Two tears rolled slowly down Edmund's cheeks as he collapsed back against the wall, trying to ignore the foul taste in his mouth... and the total panick he felt.
"Anyway." The witch said, standing up straight. "I know you know where Aslan is."
Edmund swallowed hard, staring at her as he forced back anymore tears.
"And I will make you tell me." The witch glared at him before grabbing a whip from Ginnabrik. "Take off your shirt right now." She spat. "And I won't ask again."
Edmund hesitated, but in the end did as he was told, trembling violently.
"Where are they Edmund?" The witch asked again, pulling Edmund away from the wall and lying him on his stomach in the middle of the cell.
Edmund's heart pounded. "Don't know." He managed to choke, shaking his head slightly before bracing himself, knowing exactly what was going to happen.
He didn't have to wait long, for the second he said this he heard the crack, followed by his own scream.
Jadis carried this on for far too long, before throwing the whip to the side. "Where are they Edmund!" She screamed.
Edmund let out a sob, his eyes squeezed shut. "I don't know!" He cried.
The witch let out an angry sigh. "In two weeks (if I haven't killed you before then) you're gonna wish you'd just told me."
And with that she marched from the cell, Ginnabrik following behind.
Edmund just lay there, silently crying.
All he felt was pain... so much pain - but so much fear too.
What an earth had he drunk?
And more importantly, what would it do to him?☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆☆♡☆
