Edmund's eyes snapped open as he let out a loud gasp, sitting up in bed as he tried to figure out where he was.
After a few moments it all came back to him.
He was at Cair Paravel, in the room he shared with Peter. He was not with the witch anymore. Jadis was dead, she could never hurt him again.
Well, that's what his siblings had told him, but he knew it wasn't true. It had nearly been two weeks since that had happened in the dungeons, nearly two weeks since the witch had forced him to drink - whatever it was. The only thing was, he hadn't told anyone. Not a soul. He couldn't bring himself to worry anyone or cause anyone any trouble, he'd already caused alot of that.
With a sigh he pulled off the blanket, swinging his legs over the side of the bed and standing.
He flinched as pain shot through his stomach briefly, and sighed again. Lucy's cordial may of healed the wound, but it still hurt.
Being as quiet as he could so as not to wake his brother, he crept across the room and out onto the balcony, leaning against the railing and sighing in relief when the cool air hit his warm forehead.
He stood there for so long he started to shiver, just staring at the stars in the sky, memories of his time with Jadis passing unwelcome through his mind.
"Edmund?"
Edmund jumped harshly and swung around to see Peter stood in the doorway, a frown on his face.
"Sorry." Peter quickly apologised, having found out the day Edmund arrived at Aslan's camp that he did not like to be snuck up on, as if he was scared that Jadis was going to come back for him or something.
Edmund sighed and shook his head. "It's alright." He mumbled, looking back up at the stars. He heard Peter walk over and stand beside him, leaning against the railing too.
"How come you're awake?" Peter asked after a long while of silence.
Edmund hesitated. "Bad dream." He mumbled in the end.
Peter took a deep breath. "She - She's dead." He said slowly. "She can't hurt you ever again."
Edmund swallowed hard. You'll find out in two weeks from now. "I know." He choked.
Peter frowned slightly. "She can't Ed." He said. "She's dead."
Edmund took a deep breath. "She's dead." He copied with a small nod.
Peter sighed sadly and wrapped an arm around Edmund's shoulders.
Edmund let out a shaky breath as he rested his head against Peter's chest, trying to calm his pounding heart.
"Let's get you back inside." Peter mumbled. "You're shivering."
Edmund made no objection as Peter steered him off the balcony and into the room, closing the door quietly behind them.
"Can - Can I stay with you?" Edmund asked hesitantly as they headed for their beds.
Peter nodded. "Course you can." He replied with a sad smile.
Edmund thanked him and climbed into Peter's bed, shuffling over so Peter could lay beside him.
"Night." Edmund whispered as Peter threw the blanket over them both.
Peter smiled gently at him. "Night Ed."
And with that the two fell back to sleep.

The next morning Edmund was awoken by his brother, who was walking across the room, heading for his desk where his golden crown lay.
He stopped half way and looked over when Edmund sat up. "Sorry." He said. "I didn't mean to wake you."
Edmund shook his head, rubbing his eyes. "It's alright." He mumbled, sounding extremely tired.
Peter sighed as he climbed out of bed, running a hand through his hair as he stood up.
"You could go back to sleep for a little longer?" Peter suggested. "It's only half eight."
Edmund stared at him but shook his head. "I'm up now so-" He said, not finishing his sentence.
Peter sighed. "Alright." He said with a small nod. "Breakfast?"
Edmund nodded. "Sounds good." He said.
Once the two were ready they headed for the dining room for breakfast, Peter keeping a close eye on his brother... but Edmund was used to being constantly watched ever since Beruna, so didn't say anything about it.
Once they reached the dining room Peter opened the door to find Susan and Lucy already inside, Lucy munching her way through an apple.
"Morning." Susan smiled as her brothers sat down at the table.
"Morning." Peter replied, smiling back at her.
"Sleep well?" Susan asked.
Peter hesitated. "Yeah." He mumbled eventually. There was no need to worry his sisters.
He kept a close eye on Edmund the whole way through breakfast, watching his every move and everything that he ate, Edmund hadn't exactly been eating much since he came to Narnia.
After a while he frowned, unable to understand why Edmund kept - coughing, even when he wasn't eating.
"Ed are you alright?" Lucy asked, beating her oldest brother to it.
Edmund let out another cough before nodding. "Yeah." He said. "I think something's just scratched the back of my throat or something."
Peter frowned a little but nodded, after all that sounded like a fairly reasonable explanation.
After another few coughs from his brother though Peter sighed and handed him a glass of water. "Have a drink." He mumbled.
Edmund nodded slowly and took the cup, taking a few sips before placing it on the table beside his plate.
But if anything the water had made it worse, and Peter was worried to see that Edmund's coughing was becoming worse. "Ed?" He asked after seeing Edmund's eyes fill with tears.
Edmund let out another cough, followed by another until he couldn't stop. He covered his mouth, pushing his chair away from the table slightly as he coughed.
Peter jumped from his seat and knelt beside his brother, placing one hand on his shoudler and rubbing his other hand up and down his back. "Shh." Peter said, noticing Susan standing from her chair and Lucy lowering her apple.
But Edmund just continued to cough, that is until he collapsed against his brother, falling off his chair as his eyes slid shud.
Peter's eyes went wide as he caught his brother quickly, his heart starting to pound.
Edmund had just passed out...
