Susan and Lucy helped Edmund across the room and back into his own bed, Susan pulling the blanket up tightly around him before sitting beside him.
"Alright?" She asked.
Edmund swallowed hard and shrugged. "S - Suppose." He choked.
"He'll be back before you know it." Lucy said reassuringly, a small smile on her face.
Edmund nodded a little at her. "He - He will come back won't he?" He whispered, his voice full of worry.
"Oh Ed." Susan mumbled. "Of course he'll come back."
Edmund sighed slightly. "Alright." He mumbled, before: "But-"
"Ed come on." Susan cut him off. "He'll come back, he promised didn't he?"
Edmund nodded slowly. "But - He only has to weeks." He whispered, barely getting the words out. "And - And he could get hurt.
"Ed, Peter will come back, and in time too." Susan sighed. "And he's not going to get hurt."
Lucy sighed to herself, after a few words they'd decided not to tell Edmund that most of the witches followers has retreated to the west, for fear he'd freak and not let Peter go at all.
"Susan's right." Lucy mumbled. "He won't get hurt."
Edmund stared at his sisters for a moment before sighing, letting out a few small coughs before turning onto his side and curling into a ball, bringing the blanket up tightly around his neck.
"Ed?" Susan said, frowning slightly.
"I - I'm okay." Edmund choked, nodding his head slightly, but was unaware that by doing so it caused two tears to roll down his cheeks.
"Edmund?" Susan asked again. "Please."
Edmund swallowed hard. "Just tired." He mumbled, his voice cracking.
Susan sighed. "You said that last time." She muttered.
Edmund's eyes closed for just a second before he opened them again and stared across the room at Peter's bed. "I just suppose I wasn't expecting to get poisoned is all." He whispered, struggling to get the words out, his throat hurt so much.
Susan sighed sadly. "Neither did we." She whispered, tears in her eyes as she lay down beside her brother, lifting him up slightly and into her arms. "But it's gonna be okay." She added, stroking her brothers hair.
"I - I've put Peter in danger." Edmund choked. "Again."
"No you haven't Ed." Lucy said, crawling over and laying on the other side of her older brother. "The witch has."
"If - If I hadn't of betrayed you all like that then Peter wouldn't be on his way to the west and in danger!" Edmund argued, coughing harshly twice before groaning.
"Come on Ed, no more talking." Susan whispered, placing a kiss to the top of his head.
Edmund shook his head. "It's all my fault." He whispered, tears rolling down his cheeks.
"Ed please." Susan mumbled.
"I'm so sorry." Edmund sobbed. "P - Peter could die and it would be my fault."
Susan sighed. "He's not going to die." She reassured him.
"I'm sorry." Edmund cried, burying his face against Susan's shoulder. "I'm sorry."
He kept repeating those two words over and over again until he eventually cried himself to sleep, collapsing against his sister.
Susan sighed sadly, continuing to stroke his hair, tears appearing in her eyes as she tightened her grip around his shoulders. "I hope Peter does make it back within two weeks." She mumbled.
Lucy sighed. "So do I." She said. "He said he would though... he promised. And Peter has never, ever broken a promise."
Susan stared at her for a while before nodding. "You're right." She breathed.
Lucy nodded slowly. "Peter said- to make sure he didn't give up." She whispered. "What does that mean?"
Susan hesitated. "Just, to make sure he doesn't loose hope and doesn't give up." She choked. "Make sure he keeps going."
Lucy stared at her before getting what she meant. "Ed - Edmund's strong." She said, her voice shaking. "He - He'll get through this."
Susan forced a smile. "I know he will Lu." She said, before looking back down at his brother.
Lucy hesitated for a moment. "Do - Do you ever wonder what happened to him when he was with the witch?" She whispered.
Susan glanced back up at her. "Yeah." She sighed. "All the time."
"Peter told me he was up when they brought Edmund into camp." Lucy said slowly. "He - He said that he woke up and - and was panicking because he didn't have a clue where he was, and that - only after seeing Peter did he calm down."
Susan sighed sadly. "It's understandable." She mumbled. "It was clear he went through hell, it's only natural for him to be scared."
Lucy managed a small nod before resting her head on Edmund's shoulder, letting out a quiet sigh.
The two sat in complete silence, the only noise Edmund's steady breathing, that was until he coughed.
Susan's heart skipped a beat as she glanced down at Edmund, who had a look of mild pain on his face as he let out another harsh cough, followed by a few more as his eyes began to open.
"Lu, get that glass of water on the bedside table." Susan said quickly.
Lucy nodded and did as she was told, handing it to Susan just as Edmund fully awoke, letting out more coughs.
Sitting Edmund up with a little difficulty, Susan brought the cup to his lips. "Come on." She mumbled as Edmund coughed.
He just about managed to take a few sips, before he broke down into a violent coughing fit.
"Okay." Susan choked, wrapping her arms around his shoulders. "It's gonna be okay."
Edmund continued coughing for what felt like an eternity, until he started to calm down, only for him to then lean quickly over the side of the bed and throw up.
Susan visibly cringed as she placed her hand gently on Edmund's back, Lucy watching with tears in her eyes.
After a short while Edmund slowly sat up, leaning against his older sister as he took deep breaths, wiping his mouth as he trembled.
Susan didn't say anything, for fear Edmund would try and answer, and instead climbed from the bed and lay Edmund down, pulling the blanket over him and placing a kiss to his forehead. "Go back to sleep." She whispered.
But Edmund never heard, the second his head hit the pillow, his eyes slid shut and he fell into a deep sleep.

Okay, you've probably guessed that the next load of chapters will have alot more Susan and Edmund, and Lucy and Edmund, instead of Peter and Edmund.
But I hope you don't mind, and I'll make up for it at the end of the book... if Peter comes back... 😏🥺🥺😱😱😱🤞🤞🤞🙏🙏🙏😂😂
Lol.
