Peter sighed as he headed back to Philip, a faun telling him on the way that Orious was with him and they were both waiting.
Glancing down at his own hands he saw them stained with blood, and couldn't help but cringe at the thought that Edmund was up in their room, unconscious... and he was leaving him.
Peter stopped walking, he was leaving his brother... and he might never, ever see him again. Squeezing his eyes shut Peter took a deep breath, there was absolutely no point in going back to say goodbye again, Edmund wouldn't know for one.
But the very thought of never seeing his brother again, never hearing his voice, never seeing him smile or hearing him laugh, never seeing that playful annoyed glare he'd always give Peter... made tears start to sting his eyes.
And if Edmund was somehow awake, it would do no good for him if Peter went back to say goodbye again.
He turned around when he heard footsteps, and came face to face with Lucy.
"Hey." Lucy mumbled, walking over and wrapping her arms around Peter's waist.
Peter took a deep breath and hugged her back. "What's up?" He asked.
Lucy shrugged. "I just - don't really want you to go is all, but I know you have to." She added quickly.
Peter sighed a little and knelt down in front of his sister, holding her at arms length. "I won't be long Lu alright?" He said. "I'll only be two weeks-" Here he swallowed hard. "Hopefully."
Lucy bit her lip. "You'll do it Peter." She said confidently. "I know you will."
Peter sighed and nodded a little, but didn't say anything.
"He really appreciates you doing this." Lucy mumbled.
Peter managed a small smile. "He better." He joked lightly.
Lucy smiled a little. "But he'll miss you." She mumbled.
Peter sighed. "I'll miss him too." He choked.
Lucy frowned a little at the look on her older brothers face. "You will see him again, you know that right?" She said.
Peter shook his head. "No, I dont know that." He said, still not looking up at Lucy. "This journey takes nearly four weeks, I have to do it in two!"
"Peter I believe in you." Lucy mumbled. "I know you can do it, just because it's Edmund."
"What do you mean?" Peter asked, frowning at her.
Lucy smiled. "You may not say it often but you love Edmund so much." She said. "You blame yourself for him going to the witch and would do anything to make up for it (even though it wasn't your fault)."
Peter took a deep breath and after hesitating greatly he nodded. "I will come back, within two weeks. And I will have the apple." He said firmly.
Lucy nodded. "I'll miss you." She said, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Peter sighed and hugged her back. "I'll miss you too." He whispered in her ear before slowly pulling away. "Goodbye Lu." He mumbled as he stood.
Lucy nodded a little. "See ya." She choked before turning and walking back down the corridor.
Peter watched her go for a moment before turning and heading for the stables.
Once he reached them he saw Philip and Orious waiting patiently, chatting together about Aslan only knows what.
Smiling a little Peter walked over. "Hey." He mumbled.
"King Peter." Orious said, bowing. "Everything you'll need are in the bags strapped to Philip's saddle, you'll be riding him for most of the journey."
Peter looked a little outstanded at this, talking horses usually don't let people ride them. "Okay." Was all he managed to say.
"I've also packed you a map." Orious said. "There's food, water and clean clothes as well."
"Thank you Orious." Peter replied.
"You're welcome your majesty." Orious bowed. "You will be leaving now?" He asked.
"Yeah." Peter breathed.
"Up you get then." Philip said, already ready to go.
Peter did as he was told and climbed onto Philip's back, steadying himself before glancing at Orious. "Please keep an eye on my siblings, Ed especially." He sighed.
"As you wish." Orious replied with a nod.
"Thanks." Peter mumbled, before: "Come on then."
Philip began walking at his command, keeping a slow trot as they headed towards the wood.
After a short while Peter turned his upper body and found the balcony belonging to his and Edmund's room.
He frowned though when he saw Susan and Lucy, just about managing to keep Edmund on his feet whilst searching for him.
Peter saw Susan make eye contact with him, and point a little, catching Edmund's attention.
When Edmund looked down at Peter, Peter saw a small smile on his face and couldn't help but smile back.
He waved when Edmund did, and after a reassuring nod up at his siblings, Philip trotted into the woods and out of sight.
Peter sighed a little as they made their way through the woods, telling himself that in two weeks he'd be back with Edmund, no matter what it took.
"I know the way until we get out of Narnia." Philip said. "But after that we'll have to use the map."
Peter nodded slowly. "Alright." He breathed.
"You're brother will by find Sir." Philip said. "If he managed to get through a few days with the witch, I'm sure he can get through this."
Petee took a deep breath. "You're right." He choked. "And atleast he has someone with him."
Philip nodded. "Exactly." He said.
"I just, really dont like leaving him, not after I only recently got him back."
"You'll see him again soon." Philip said.
Peter nodded. "Hmm." He replied. They fell into silence as they carried on through the woods, Peter's heart hammering in his chest.
He managed to push all bad thoughts from his head and instead told himself over and over again that he would make it back in time, he would see Edmund again and his little brother would live.
