"Ed?" Peter asked hesitantly, glancing down at his brother. "Edmund!" He said again, starting to panick.
"He's passed out." Susan mumbled, before running around the table and kneeling beside her brothers.
Peter swallowed hard and placed the back of his hand to Edmund's forehead. "He's burning up." He choked.
Susan took a deep breath. "Let's get him upstairs." She said quickly.
Peter nodded and, as if he weighed nothing, he picked his brother up and into his arms, standing with a little help from Susan.
"Lu go ahead and get a bowl of water and a cloth." Susan said softly. "We need to bring his temperature down."
Lucy nodded before dashing from the room ahead of her siblings, a small frown on her face.
Peter took a deep breath as he carried Edmund all the way up to their room, Susan following silently behind.
Once there he lay Edmund gently on his bed, propping his head up against the pillows slightly before sitting on the bed beside him. "Why did he pass out?" He asked Susan quickly.
Susan sighed and sat dow beside Peter. "I don't know Pete." She mumbled.
"He'll be alright won't he?" Peter choked after a while.
Susan nodded. "Course he will Peter." She said, but her voice was tight, and she sounded rather weary.
Lucy then stepped out of the bathroom, a bowl and a flannel in her hand. She quickly walked over to his siblings and climbed onto the bed, handing Peter the bowl and cloth.
"Thanks Lucy." Peter said, managing a small smile for his little sister as he wet the cloth.
He carefully wrung it before pressing it gently to Edmund's forehead, hoping it would help even just a little bit.
The second the wet cloth touched Edmund's skin he let out a quiet whimper, his eyes flickering open.
Peter held his breath as Edmund stared at him, looking extremely confused. "What?" He finaly choked, his voice raspy.
Peter bit his lip. "You passed out." He said slowly.
Edmund looked startled, and his hand moved up and rested on Peter's which still held the cloth to his forehead, frowning even more. "Why?" He asked.
"You just kept coughing." Susan mumbled.
Edmund nodded slowly. "My throat hurt is all." He said, moving his hand back to his side and allowing Peter to continue.
There was a while of silence before Edmund's eyes went insanely wide.
"What's wrong?" Lucy asked quickly, worry in her voice.
Edmund swallowed hard. "How - How long ago did I - I leave the beavers?" He choked out, his heart hammering.
"Ed?" Peter questioned, rather shocked at why Edmund would bring that up.
"How long ago." Edmund said quickly.
"Two weeks ago." Peter mumbled. "Why?"
Edmund felt like he was gonna throw up, but he hid his panick and instead just nodded. "No reason." He whispered.
Peter frowned but didn't say anything, instead he removed the cloth and placed the back of his hand to Edmund's forehead. He sighed in relief when he felt that his temperature had dropped considerably, and placed the bowl and cloth on the bedside table.
Edmund took a deep breath, which was followed by a cough, followed by a groan.
"Ed?" Peter asked worridley.
Edmund swallowed hard. "My throat really hurts." He whispered.
Peter sighed. "Su-?"
"I'll go get a glass of water." Susan nodded, smiling as she stood and left the room.
"Thanks." Peter mumbled before turning back to Edmund, who was staring into space, his eyes wide and full of tears. "Ed do you know what's going on?" He said slowly, staring at his brother with a small frown on his face.
Edmund moved his stare to Peter, hesitating. "No." He eventually mumbled. Why, he didn't know. He didn't know why it was just so hard to tell his brother what had happened that night in the witches dungeons.
"Are you sure?" Peter asked wearily.
Edmund nodded. "I don't know what's going on." He said, then came up with the first excuse that came to his head: "I guess, ever since Beruna, I've just been rather tired and, I dunno, weak?" It wasn't really a lie, and he didn't want Peter asking anymore questions.
Peter nodded slowly. "That's understandable." He mumbled. "But that doesn't explain why you kept coughing like that." He added.
Lucy nodded. "He's got a point Ed." She said quietly.
Edmund stared at them both before shrugging. "I don't know what happened." He mumbled.
Peter frowned. "Lu." He said slowly. "Why don't you go find Susan a minute."
Lucy hesitated but nodded in the end, slowly leaving.
Edmund watched her go, looking slightly worried as he looked back to his brother.
"Ed." Peter said slowly. "You know you can tell me anything right?"
Edmund nodded slowly, keeping his mouth shut.
Peter took a deep breath. "What's going on?" He asked slowly.
Edmund swallowed hard and shrugged. "I don't know." He mumbled.
Peter stared at him. "Does this have something to do with - with Her?" He said slowly.
Edmund flinched at the very mention of 'Her' and took a deep breath. "It's nothing." He mumbled.
Peter took a deep breath. "It's obviously something." He said.
Edmund sighed. "It's just something that happened when I was with her is all." He mumbled, realising that Peter wasn't going to leave him alone until he got some sort of answer.
"What happened?" Peter asked hesitantly. He knew Aslan had said that there was no need to talk of what had happened then, but this sounded too serious to ignore.
Edmund swallowed hard. "I-" But then he froze.
"Ed?" Peter questioned, frowning.
Edmund's eyes went wide. "I think I'm gonna be sick." He choked, clamping a hand over his mouth as he struggled to get out the bed.
Peter quickly helped him and watched him as he ran into the bathroom, the door slamming behind him.
Peter shook his head quickly and ran after him, bursting through the door to see Edmund violently throwing up into the toilet.
Falling to his knees beside him he placed a hand on the back of his head, gently playing with his hair. "It's okay." He whispered, swallowing hard.
