Hesitating for only a second Peter ran up to the tree, reaching up and carefully taking hold of one of the silver apples.
Taking a deep breath he gently picked it, bringing it down and just staring at it for a long while.
He told himself that he couldn't lose this apple, the dryad had said he could only have one, and therefore he'd guard it with his life.
He turned to leave after a while but gasped when he came face to face with a hag... the same one that had tied him to that tree.
Taking a deep breath he slipped the apple into the bag he had around his shoulder, trying to keep it hidden from the hag.
"So, you made it then." The hag laughed.
"Obviously." Peter spat.
"It looks as though you injured yourself trying to get free though." The hag smirked, staring at the rope burns through Peter's tunic.
"I would've done anything to get free." Peter said firmly, only now after a while feeling the burning on his arms.
The hag chuckled. "Of course you would of." He said. "And I see you got the apple?"
Peter sighed a little, he was hoping she wouldn't of noticed. "Yes." He said simply. "Now if you don't mind, I'm leaving and going back to save my brothers life."
The hag smirked. "Oh, but I do mind." She said. "I want that little traitor to die a slow and painful death."
Peter took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. "Don't call him that." He said, his voice tight.
The hag laughed again. "What would you do if I told you the witches army is attacking Cair Paravel as we speak?" She said slowly.
Peter's heart skipped a beat. "What?" He said, his voice barely a whisper.
The hag smirked. "They will get into Cair Paravel." She assured him. "And your brother will be the first to die, followed by your sisters."
Peter's heart was now pounding in his chest. "No." He choked.
"Oh yes." The hag laughed, pulling out a dagger. "So you know, I might as well kill you now, seeming as your whole family will be dead before you reach the castle."
Peter's temper flashed, he drew his sword and charged at the hag, only for her to dodge as quickly as she could.
Peter turned back around and brought his sword back down towards her head... this time it hit his target, but not before she managed to slice her knife across the side of his stomach.
Peter cried out in pain before gritting his teeth and falling to his knees.
He stared at the dead hag for a while before glancing down to access the damage.
The dagger had managed to slice through tunic and skin, leaving a large cut going across his stomach.
Taking a deep breath he stared at the blood trickling from it, and found that breathing had become alot more painful.
Gritting his teeth again he forced himself to his feet, biting his lip to keep back a cry as pain shot through his stomach.
"Pull yourself together." He muttered to himself. "It's just a scratch."
Taking a deep breath and wincing in pain he started heading back to the gates.
He had to get back to Cair Paravel, his siblings were in danger, Edmund in more than one way.
Pushing past the pain he reached the gates and stumbled out of the garden, breathing heavy by now.
Being as careful as he could he began the walk down the hill, grabbing onto anything he could so he didn't fall or trip.
About half way down he tripped over a rock stuck out of the ground, gasping as he landed flat on his stomach.
Groaning loudly he rolled onto his back and pushed himself into a sitting position, letting out another gasp as he grabbed the trunk of a small tree and forced himself back to his feet.
As fast as he could he made his way back down the hill, the only thought on his mind that he had to reach Cair Paravel, before it was too late.
After a rather long while, Peter spotted Philip, waiting patiently for him just outside the woods.
The horse stood when he saw him, but trotted over when he saw that he was hurt. "Your majesty?!" He said as Peter all but collapsed against him. "What happened?"
"Hag." Peter choked. "Had a knife."
Philip didn't know what to say to that and just stared worriedly at Peter as he forced himself to stand up straight... well, as straight as he could.
"We need to get to Cair Paravel." Peter said quickly. "It's under attack, they're all in danger."
"What?!" Phililp exclaimed, looking shocked.
"We need to hurry." Peter whispered, wincing harshly.
Philip nodded. "On my back." He said quickly.
Peter hesitated but in the end did as he had said, crying out in pain when he lifted himself up.
"Majesty?" Philip asked worridley.
Peter took a deep breath. "I'm fine." He breathed. "Just go."
Glancing down at his stomach Peter saw that his tunic was slowly staining red, and this made him worry... but not for himself. If he couldn't get back to Cair, then not only would Edmund die, but his sisters would too... and it would destroy him if all three of his siblings died.
Biting his lip he forced back a scream as Philip began galloping through the woods, weaving his way through the trees and never once slowing.
Peter's sighed as he leant against the back of Philip's neck, tears in his eyes, but he kept them open.
He knew he had to stay awake, he had to, he'd never get back to Cair if he passed out, not before the army killed everyone.
Taking a deep breath he stared ahead, silently promising himself that he would reach Cair Paravel, and he would reach it in time.
