Bird Cage: Hawks x Reader x Dabi Part 1

So, fair warning, since Hawks isn't animated in the anime yet (However he is in the most recent MHA end credits theme) I walked into this a little bit blind. I did read his appearances in the manga multiple times and read fanfics to get a good idea of how others depicted him but of course it's one thing to read a personality versus watching one acted out. Therefore, went my own direction with this.

This is an alternate AU or whatever it's called. Quirks are uncommon and therefore heroes don't exist yet.

There's many things in life that make no sense to you as of this day and age. Actually, ever since you've become of adult age, compared to before nothing makes a single ounce of sense. Well, did you know that having an imagination was considered a crime? Rather, having an imagination wasn't illegal but having one could lead to dire consequences. Years ago, you could find hundreds of books, tv shows, movies, anime and toys depicting humans or otherworldly creatures with supernatural abilities. The potential of their powers were limitless! They could possess the power to manipulate water, exhale fire from your lungs, lift more than the strongest man on earth and much more. Really, there was a power for just about anything and only your imagination could set the limits. The depressing part of all this was that as of now, the very mention of superhumans for personal enjoyment had died out as fiction became reality.

You'd think that fiction entering reality would be a hot gossip! Superheroes, cool abilities, new strives in technology and more. In actuality, supernatural abilities are feared above all else. The second the average human isn't the strongest being on earth, everyone will begin to scramble. Supernatural abilities are called Quirks. Quirks differentiate the normal from the abnormal. Through extensive research, scientists have figured out that Quirks are anomalies in DNA that occur in those who were born within generation Z. Sadly, you've had to say goodbye to countless friends over the years as they too have gained a quirk. The part that confuses you the most however is how nobody questions what happened to those who had quirks. They're silenced immediately and dropped off the face of the earth. Now, everybody's number one fear and wish is that they never gain a quirk of their own...

Your fear became a reality not even twenty four hours ago...

It was the dead of night on a chilly fall day. Like most people at three in the morning, you were fast asleep. Or, sound asleep until that dreaded bodily response told you that it was time for a bathroom break. To have to break away from the warmth of the bed, you moved a heavy arm. Your sweltering body was released from the bed covers to clash with the cold. Being half asleep, you didn't think much of the lack of feelings in your lower half until you fell flat onto the cold wooden floor. Thinking more into the subject, it was as if the existence of your legs weren't a thing anymore.

Just my damn luck, that's all you could think. Who can't wake up enough to make a small trip to the bathroom. That was, until you couldn't stand up. Why not? It wasn't until you finally got a good look at the big picture that everything came into place. Your eyes shrunk, petrified, your lower half wasn't where it belonged but rather it was slowly malforming into a pile of guttural sludge that dribbled off the bed to trail onto the floor where you lied. There was nothing you could do but scream, to cry, to curse your existence. Your roommates entered the room in a frenzy! They dreaded the thought of you potentially being murdered on the spot, only to come face to face with this not as horrible but still grim discovery.

"Help me... Please... Help me..." The tears streamed down your face to collect upon the wooden flooring below. Before you knew it, your arms too were beginning to liquify and you could no longer hold up your own weight but to instead accept fate and lie stiff as a board where you so happened to lie.
