Chapter 4 - U.A Entrance Exam - Part II

They quickly made their way to the auditorium, where all the candidates awaited, rows of seats filled with students hyped for the event. After a couple of seconds the lights turned off, leaving only the lights iluminating the stage still on.

A man appeared on the stage, Midoriya started fanboying immediately, it was the pro hero Present Mic.

"I can't believe it, do you think he is teaching here?" Whispered Kaito.

"I hope so! I listen to his show every day of the week!"

"What's up U.A candidates, thanks for turning into me! Your school DJ! Everybody say HEY!" Present Mic was excited, but the silence that followed showed that nobody shared his sentiment.

He then proceeded. "Alright then. Let's just skip to the main show!" Present Mic then explained how the exam would follow. Kaito looked down to his exam ticket.

"Huh, I guess that makes sense." Kaito whispered.

"What makes sense?" Asked Midoriya.

"They're splitting us up. Maybe so we can't work together with our friends." Midoriya looked at both tickets and saw the exam locations were different.

Present Mic continued his explanation about the villains the examinees would face. After another examinee pointing "printing problems" on the exam pappers and acusing both Kaito and Midoriya of muttering during the explanation.

"That's all I got for you today! Before I go, a sample of our school motto: As general Napoleon Bonaparte once laid down "A true hero is one that overcomes life's misfortunes." Are yall ready to go beyond? Let's hear a PLUS ULTRA!"

Present Mic finished. "Hum, better to keep that in mind." Muttered Kaito.
The lights turned back on, everyone started heading to their respective battle arena. "Well, I guess that's where we part ways, for now." Commented Kaito.

Midoriya noded. "Good luck, Atsuhito!"

"You too, Future Hero!"

Kaito changed into more confortable clothes, black track pants and black T-Shirt. He checked again his exam ticket, battle arena E.

As he arrived he saw a few candidates already waiting. Kaito breathed deeply and began streching.

"Nervous?" One of the examinees approached. A black haired dude with pointy teeth.

"Oh yeah... Its only natural to be nervous, and you?" Kaito returned the question.

"Me too, man... Me too."

"Alright get moving!" Suddently, Present Mic appeared out of nowhere, up on a platform overlooking the examinees. "There are no countdowns in real battles! So get moving!"

Kaito ran as soon as he heard the signal. He noted that if he stayed with the main pack of examinees he would get less of a chance to find more robot villains, especially if the other examinees had better quirks, quirks suited for combat, so it would be better to find an alternative path, it would be more dangerous too.

The plan actually paid off, all of the sudden a two pointer appeared from inside of one of the buildings breaking down the wall. "Target aquired!" The robot villain raised his arm and attacked. Kaito dodged using his steam thrusters to gain the air. Kaito landed on the robot's arm and ran up it, reaching the robot's head.

"Easy points!" Kaito grabbed the robot's head with both hands, and then filled it with steam, making it explode from the inside out in a cloud of steam.
"That's two points for me!" Kaito cheered. "Looks like the training paid off!" Kaito looked up and had an idea.

"Let's take a better look." He used his steam thrusters to briefly fly to the top of one of the buildings. "Alright, I see my next target." He saw another two pointer ready to attack one of the examinees that was on the ground. He jumped down using his thrusters to gain speed and with a powerful stomp to the head he destroyed another villain.

Kaito kept on fighting for about five minutes, wrecking robots left and right with precise use of his steam and momentum. His total score was 39 points.

"Uh oh, I'm running out of steam." He noted. Kaito was backing up from a group of two and three pointers, when he bumped into someone, it was the black haired dude from earlier.

"Hey, it's you!" Said the dude, surprised.

"Looks like we're in a difficult situation." Said Kaito, observing the robots surrounding the two from all sides.

"Maybe we can team up?" Suggested the black haired dude.

"I don't see why not. May I ask what's your quirk?" Asked Kaito.

"Hardening, I can harden my body, and you?"

"Well, its complicated. But I have a plan. I can boost you, you will become an unstoppable bullet."

"Sounds like a plan!" The dude activated his quirk, taking a more sturdy appearance, almost like he had sharp edges.

Kaito focused his steam thrusters on the back of the black haired dude, launching him at an incredible speed, breaking multiple villains and oppening a path, destroying a whole bunch of robots in the process. Kaito ran to the black haired dude.

"You ok?" He asked, his hand reaching forward to help.

"Hell yeah! That was awesome! Name's Kirishima by the way, Kirishima Eijiro."

Kaito smiled, and helped Kirishima up.

"I'm Atsuhito Kaito. Nice to meet you Kirishima!."

A group of examinees took care of the rest of the villains.
Suddently, the ground started shaking, everyone looked up, scared, when a giant robot villain rose up between the buildings, knocking debris.

Kaito noticed the falling debris around, most of the examinees dodged out of the way, except for one girl. He ran up to a girl with purple short hair, she had lazy looking onyx eyes, he found it wierd but decided not to comment on the earphone jacks hanging from her earlobes.

Using his speed he picked her up and dodged the falling debris, putting her back on her feet.

"That was close. You ok?" He asked, still focused on the giant robot. She just noded.

"No point in fighting that thing. It's worth zero points and the time is almost up. Let's just retreat." He suggested.

"Good call. Not very manly, but there's nothing we can do." Agreed Kirishima.

Soon the time was up. The exam was over.

"Phew! That was hardcore!" Said Kirishima scraching the back of his head.

"It sure was. I hope I did good out there. Kaito looked at the sky, worried about his performance. Did he do good? Did Midoriya survive?

"I'm sure you're gonna make it just fine!" Assured Kirishima, grinning.

Kaito smiled and nodded back.

The examinees got in the bus that was waiting to get them back to the campus.

After packing his things and saying goodbye to his new friend, Kaito was soon back home, eagerly awaiting his results.
