First Training Session

Ten minutes left.

Ezra couldn't understand why his legs were shaking. There was no reason for him to be so nervous. It was only one training session. A few hours of lengthy jogs around the Ghost and deflecting cartons of milk (which most likely expired) with his master's lightsaber.

He had been so thrilled when Kanan finally decided to start training. Ezra was waiting impatiently for the day to come where he would learn about the force, which Kanan talked highly about, and prove his worth to everyone on the Ghost.

But here he was, keeping his distance from everyone in the dusty little storage unit that no one had showed him from his very first days on the ship. Ezra was the one to discover the dark room, since he tried often to be alone, uncomfortable with the constant presence of his crew members. It actually was a perfect hideout, although it could use some cleaning up.
Ezra sighed as he ran his fingers through his hair, debating if he should skip training. It would make a bad first impression, but Kanan already thought of Ezra as some street rat that didn't know anything about proper etiquette, like skipping training.
It wasn't like Ezra was trying to make a bad impression. He would never admit this, but everything was moving so fast and he couldn't keep up with the big changes in his life. Moving in with the Ghost crew was the toughest decision he had ever made and now he was about to train to become a Jedi Knight, which was also very scary.

Ezra looked back down at his wrist, observing the little watch attached.

He had five minutes.

Five minutes until Ezra would have to go outside. Just a few minutes till he made an embarrassment of himself or worse.

"Why can't you just suck it up and go out there?" Ezra thought while pulling his knees to his chest.

"Might as well get it over with."

But he just couldn't. Ezra was afraid of being a failure. He had been begging Kanan to train him but now he wished he hadn't. Ezra thought he was ready for it, but just thinking about the what ifs were driving him crazy.

What if Kanan thought Ezra wasn't good enough? That he was not as strong as Kanan assumed he was and decided to kick him off the ship? Technically, Hera made that decision and she seemed to not hate him, but that didn't make Ezra feel any better.

It was like someone took a hold of his gut and was painfully twisting it to a point where Ezra felt he was going to hurl. He didn't know why he was feeling like this, but his fear grew every time he thought of training.

He anxiously looked back at his watch.

    He had 1 minute.

"Breathe, Ezra." he told himself as a wave of nausea hit him like a couple of bricks.

He could do this. He will do this. Nothing would stop him from showing Kanan that he was willing to fight and learn the ways of a Jedi. Some nervousness will not get in his way. He dealt with worse on the streets, he could take whatever Kanan threw at him.

That was when it hit Ezra that maybe he should've been early, since it was his first training session. He only had a minute to spare, he might as well get outside and meet Kanan before he was late.

Ezra then stood up a little wobbly at first from staying in the same position for an hour and patted his pants clean of any dust left from the storage room. He took another deep breath and headed outside.

Once he saw Kanan, he knew something was wrong. He was siting knees crossed on the field grounds in meditation mode. His face held a stern look as his eyes were closed. Kanan looked peaceful on the outside, but there was some conflict within. Ezra couldn't understand what it was, but he felt something was off.

That was when Kanan finally opened his eyes as Ezra took a few steps towards him.

"You're late."
