< Chapter 35: Enough Said >❤Debbie's P.O.V❤
I threw my Prada handbag in the backseat as I got out the car. I was at Mom's house because the whole wedding party was supposed to stay at Biltmore a week before the wedding. But since I was staying there now, which is almost two weeks before the wedding, I wanted all the women in the wedding party there with me, including my mom.
“Momma?” I unlocked the door with my key. “Ma?”
She walked out her room. “What? I was busy watching Dancing with the Stars on Netflix.”
“Oh my bad,” I snapped my fingers jokingly. “How you been?” I came in for a hug.
“Good, just hurtin'.” she hugged me back as we walked in her room. “I'm sorry about what happened with you and that boy,”
Ever since Aubrey and I have been together, she has always referred to him as ‘that boy’. She doesn't say it to his face though, just in general conversation we have.
“It's cool, I'm over it,”
“Mmhm,” she sat down and focused back on the TV.
I looked at her even though she wasn't looking at me. “What?”
Usually, when she makes that sound, she has something to say.
“I know you Debbie, you came from me. Why you let him treat you any type of way? I raised you better than that.”
“Momma-”
“After all he put you through, you still sitting there, smiling in his face. I love that boy, honestly I do but you let him get away with too much shit! Is his dick that good?”
“Ma?!” I covered my face, embarrassed by the face that my mother just ask me a question like that. True, I talk to my momma about any and everything but why did she have to say it like that. “He doesn't treat me any type of way and he does apologize for whatever he does-”
“Apologies are nothing if it isn't backed by action. That's why me and Eddie never worked.”
“Aubrey isn't and will never be Eddie, Ma.” I started feel heated. “Eddie was a washed up alcoholic who cared more about a damn drink than having a family! Just because y'all didn't work out you think it would be the same for me? ”
“Who you think you yelling at?! I would slap the cow-walking shit out of you, don't test me. I'm just saying-”
I stood up. “Why can't everybody be happy for us? I have to hear this shit from everyone! His mom, my mom, our friends-” All of a sudden, I could feel tears dripping from my face. “Why can't everyone just let me be happy?” I ran out the house.
Deep down, I know she is right. But I worked so hard to get to this place, why would I turn back now?

As I sat at the bar, I knocked back a shot of wisky I was hold for about an hour now. Luckily, their was not that many people in here, so I wasn't at risk of being notice. After the second shot, I came to the realization that Eddie wasn't coming, so I got up and made my way outside.
“Leaving so soon son, happy hour just started,” Eddie stopped me at I was about to get in the car.
I closed the door. “I didn't think you would show up-”
“And I wasn't about to but I could use a drink,” he patted my back as we walked inside.
------
“Yeah, she is almost five months.” I showed him a picture of Julianna that I keep in my wallet. Then, I showed him a recent picture of Debbie. “And that's your daughter and it would be an great if you could come to the wedding,”
He looked at me then back at his drink. “You must really love her if you came all this way to get me, but I am the last person she wants to see.”
“Well, it was a pleasure meeting you,” I had my hand out.
He shook it then looked inside his hand. “What is this?” he unfolded a piece of paper I handed him.
“It's where the wedding will be and money to get up there,” I put some twenty dollars on the bar and walked out.
Now, it's time to see my bride to be.
