You were waiting for your best friend, Joshua to show up. It has been days since you've heard from him.

He didn't text or call you back. And also, he never stop by your house this weekends.

"Hey, Joshy isn't here?" your Mom asked in surprise also that there was no curly brown hair making fun of you.

"Yeah, I'm also surprised." then a message pops to your cell phone screen. It was from the guy you're going out with.

"Is that...?" noticing the way you smile you turn to your Mom and gave her a look.

"I'm not saying anything, dear."

"Oh, you were about to." since the two of you were talking about boys and stuff. She asked you some things.

"Well... We just hang out these couple of days and I could see how he likes me and--"

"Joshy! Were you standing there that long?" your Mom asked, worriedly. He was there, standing hands in his pocket. You were expecting him to return your gaze but his hazel eyes stayed on your Mom as Joshua explain to fetch something up for his Mom.

" Oh don't worry, dear. I'll stop by at your house late. By the mean time, Y/N's has been missing you--"

"Mom!"

Silence welcomes you as Joshy sat at the side of your bed. Still not returning your gaze.

"Hey, how are things?"

"Good. Everything's fine." you could see at his expression that there was something bothering him and uncomfortable about. It made you worry.

You sat beside him and waited for him to utter something. To explain why he's been so distant and--

" So, you're going out with him."

You didn't expect him to ask this kind of question first. Since you thought that he was updated or cool on going out with him. But you only just assumed.

" Look Y/N, it was totally that you're going out with someone. But seriously, of all people--"

"Hey, don't start." his eyes met yours full of meaning.

"You don't even know the guy, Y/N. The way you look and-- I thought you were better than that." you sat there confused at the way you best friend act and said some hurtful words. You didn't expect Joshua, the kind hearted and understanding boy boy whom you trust and love as a friend would say such words at you.

"Look, I didn't plan on liking him and we're just starting to get to know each other. Joshy, why are you acting this way--"

"Y/N I'm in love with you!"

"What?" you blinked and Joshua closed his eyes in frustration, realizing what he has just said.

"I'm in love with you." he breathes. Then that hit you like an unexpected 10 wheeler truck that bad to realize that he is in love with you.

"You're so dense. And I could clearly see that you don't feel the same way," there was something in the way he that sentence that made your heart sink. Joshua let out a defeated sigh and shook his head trying to hold the tears from coming.

"Since I'm just your best friend and seeing you losing your common sense with that guy. Which made a lot worse." he was about to start walking away but you held him. You didn't know that he was feeling this way.

You wanted to say something to comfort him and say ''I love you too". But you both knew bad it will end.

"Joshy... I didn't know that you feel that way."

"Can you please say it to me right now." he said gazing intensely at your eyes. You were caught of track as his hands grab your arm.

"What?"

"Y/N, can you say the same?" there was desperation in his voice as he asked you.

"I love you, Joshy..." but

"But I can't love you the way you want me to." there you saw deep in his eyes trying to hold the emotions but you can see the sadness and hurt in his eyes. Joshua looks down at himself and bit his lower lip.

Thousand of words you wanted to say to the boy, but fear hold you close making you freeze and able to approach Joshua as he walk away but then stops.

"Okay,Y/N I get it... I'll just be your best friend from now on."
