It's a fresh new start. With school. Friends. House. And of course new the neighbors.
"Mom, I'll be at the back. Reading!" you exclaimed, sitting at the green grass.
You heard a noise next to your backyard but shrug it off when it instantly stops.
"Damn it!" you heard a voice and was about to check it when a ball almost hit your head.
"Hey, uhmm... I'm Y/N. Could—" you almost fell on your ladder of the attractive but upset looking boy.
"Hi I'm Joshua, who don't care." he snapped.
Rude!
"I could see you're on your period, Joshua. It would help if you keep your anger down because I'm trying to work here." you gave your kindest smile you could possibly give to the boy whose throwing a fit.
Joshua pause, frowning at the new girl.
You continued reading, enjoying the fresh air and the bright sun. It's a perfect day. But you'll always remember your past home. Your friends. School and—
"OUCH!" you groaned, when a ball with such force hit your head.
Seriously?!, you thought.

"Hey new neighbor, it's nice to see you—"
"I thought you'd stop—" Joshua leans to his seat, observing the upset and almost exploding you.
"First off, I didn't say I'd stop and you're trespassing you now." raising a brow at him.
"What a nice greetings from a new neighbor."
"Oh you're the new girl. I almost didn't noticed you." Joshua raised his hand.
"Hey, I'm Y/H (your height)!" this boy is now getting on your nerves.
Joshua chuckles. Amused.
Remembering what you came for, you gripped the lacrosse ball and aim at Joshua. An evil smile forms at the corner of your lips, when he crossed his arms to cover his face, fearing it would hit him.
" Funny, neighbor. "

It was your first day going to school but all in all, everything's going well as you planned. Joining new classmates at the cafeteria, making new friends.
But the locker in front of you wasn't helping you out.
You lightly punch the locker, hoping that it would open.
"You're doing a wonderful job opening that." a sarcastic voice murmur to your ears, revealing the person instantly you have that look on your face.
"Hey moody neighbor." you greeted.
"You need some help there?" Joshua's eyes met your surprise ones.
"Oh... I never thought that you're the helpful one." you joked, making his eyes roll.
"Funny, neighbor." Joshua repeated.

"So... You're the new girl?" one of the jocks approaches you.
You ignore him while focusing on catching up with the lessons.
"What's your name?" you glared at the jock in front of you.
Doesn't he notice that I didn't want to talk to him, you thought.
"Dude, she's busy." a boy approached you and the jock, you already knew who it was. He always carry his lacrosse stick everywhere.
Joshua.
"Look, she's not the type of girl who wants athletic type, look—she's the bookish type." Joshua said, boredly. At some point, it was like Joshua was challenging you.
"I bet on my next game, Y/N hasn't even dated anyone."
"Oh is that so—maybe I could—" before the jock could finish his statements, Joshua pushed him away almost dragging the jock away.
"I might take you on that...?" Joshua shot you an unbelievable look
"I'm Matt."

Great it's been 34 minutes since Matt told you to pick you up.
Which exactly means, he stood you up.
"Great, my first date I've been stood up." you sighed and waited at the backyard.
"You okay there?" Joshua pops his head at the wooden divider.
You haven't even realized that you were wiping the tears away.
"Y/N?"
"I'm not in the mood for—"
"Hey, I was just asking—"
"I guess I'm fine being stood up with my first date." you felt stupid asking one of the popular kids in school but ended up being ditched.
"You know Matt's a player, right?" Joshua sat beside you, he ignores the scratchy feeling of the grass.
It's too degrading and the last thing you want is to be scolded by him.
You tried your best to ignore him.
Joshua stare at your empty backyard.
" Y/N, I didn't mean it that way what I've said earlier."
"You're the new girl and... I—"
The boy beside you struggles to keep up with his words when his eyes met yours.
"I know we met at the wrong situation, and I'm pretty embarrassed a-about it." his cheeks became light pinkish while scratching the back of his neck.
"And I'm wondering if you want to hangout sometime?"
"L-Like a date?" you were taken aback with his question.
"Uhuh." he smiles shyly when Joshua saw how flushed you were.
"I'm not sure I can handle your rudeness and perio—"
"Well, there's a better version of Joshua when he's not on his monthly period."
