"I'm sorry honey, if you have to stay at Josh's." you groaned in frustration, and saying it that it was fine for a tenth time on the phone. Your mom and dad was on their business trip leaving you at a strangers front door. Technically, he was not a stranger, he's the son of your mom's best friend.

" She's perfectly fine being thrown away by her own parents and allowing her daughter to stay at a guy's condiminium." you said sarcastically in a third point of view. What taking this curly fries so long?, you thought.

You waited for your best friend to open the door. Of course being Joshua, he would allow you to wait for—

" Oh, you're here! "there was sarcasm on his tone making you roll your eyes and went inside his condominium. There was the hateful look on his face.

" Mom said she'll treat you by having me here." hearing him close the door, while you were biting the side of your cheeks, you struggled carrying your heavy bag.

" Make yourself home. " his condominium was really big to your surprise. And it was actually clean and looking like a decent guy's condo.

You shot Joshua a glare when he tried to pull a annoying comment to you.

" So... where I'm gonna sleep?" not minding the light pink on his cheeks, Joshua shrugged and went somewhere to grab something.

Joshua and you were best friend in the past but you know what they say nothing sticks, even an average glue. Because one day, he just changed those adorable and genuine smile into a annoying smug look on his face.  You assumed that Joshua put off the arrogant act when you're with your ex boyfriend. Being a overprotective best friend, but you were wrong. After breaking up with your boyfriend, Joshua didn't hang out with you and changed into some stranger who love attention and getting into someone else's pants.

Snapping you on your train of thoughts, Joshua called you inside his bedroom.

" I'm praying you're not that loud—" you coughed when you heard him saying those words. A weird and disturbing thoughts made you feel uneasy.

Joshua noticing your state, but then it hit him, letting out a chuckle. He finished preparing the bed and turn to you.

" Don't flatter yourself, Y/N." Joshua commented.

" I'm not gonna do anything . Touch you—"

" I'm not planning on allowing you, curly fries." you quickly snapped while rolling your eyes, and trying to compose yourself. Joshua handed you few blankets and pillows.

"You're taking the couch, love." Joshua tried his best not to lose his stance when you sent him a killing look.

" I missed this, though. Your baked Mac and cheese." Joshua made a sound, you sighed and trying to focus on your food untouched.

"Well... this is the least I can do." you mumbled and scrolled on your phone waiting for your parents to update you about their early coming home than you hoped for.

"Why?" Joshua asked in front of you, making frown and he proceed "Why did you go ou with that cheater?" raising your head to him.

"Are we talking about my ex boyfriend, Bassett?" it was one of the dreaded topics you lastly wanted to talk about.  Joshua nodded, without shotting any annoying remarks.

It was hard to talk about it especially to him. You knew there were some blink of motives that Joshua was giving you when you were with him. That he wanted more than just being friends.

" I'm not in the mood to talk about it—"

" Then when?" he was persistent on the topic, but you were this close to shove the topic away from him.

"Don't you get it, I don't want to talk about it. Ever."

"If you don't want to talk about your ex, then why did you forgot about us?" that made you stop from walking away.

"Why, Y/N?" Joshua shift from his seat and stood up to walk in front of you.

"Why did you just bring a guy home and introduce him as your boyfriend while you know the truth?" you frowned at his question and spun around not wanting to have this nonsense.

" Come on,  you know that I have these feelings with you!" Joshua yelled not minding that he already confessed his feeling to you.

You cursed through your thoughts when you heard a low lightning outside. You were on your night outfit and was ready to slumber but the rain poured outside.

" Seriously... " you covered your whole body in fear when a lightning surprised you. Taking deep breaths, you ran to the kitchen to grab some glass of water.

Joshua heard a scream outside his bedroom,alarmingly he dashed out to find you on the living room covered with blankets, shaking in fear.

"Seriously..." he repeated the word you said earlier.

"Joshy?" that made Joshua stop as he started to retreat to his room.

"C-Can you help me to sleep?"

"Look you're the one who said to help you to sleep. Then just sleep here." he tapped beside his bed, you immediately regretted asking for his help.

Without any more choice, you awkwardly made yourself on the bed when you heard another lightning strike.

Joshua rests his head to his side allowing to see you, before he could said anything stupid you pushed a pillow between you two. Joshua chuckles.

"Y/N, come on. I don't bite." he said innocently but it sounded weird as Joshua said it.

" Just sleep, Joshua." you shift from the other side, so that he wont see you red cheeks. Silence filled the room, assuming that Joshua was already asleep you turn around.

" You didn't answer my question earlier, though." Joshua pointed, you shut your eyes in defeat.

" Why do you—"

" I know you feel the same way, but it just frustrates me... " then it was Joshua, the old and full of genuine Joshua gaze at you.

" I know I should've told you sooner—"

" It's because I don't want to let those feelings ruin what we have. " Joshua stops, and pursed his lips looking down at your lips.

"That's a lame excuse, Y/N."

"It's the truth, Joshy. Believe me when I say I want to. But I can't push the thought that one day we'll break each other... and for sure it'll destroy our friendship."  cutting Joshua before he could point that'll change your mind.

" It's better this way... You having some girls and shoving these what ifs. "you didn't noticed that the pillow between you were removed, making you blush furiously.

" But what if... We try to pursue this."Joshua sat and pushing himself up.

" Joshua it's just...."

" I know you fear and believe that we'll break each other's hearts. But I can't prevent myself thinking what if we don't? " you sighed in tiredness. You look back at him, there was full of hope in his eyes.

" Let's just give this a shot. And if what you predicted happens, then I'd stop and be your best friend like before."

" But if my prediction is right... then, marry me." that caught you off guard, Joshua chuckled at your response.

" I'm just kidding. But if we think of it this way that if our relationship works, that's how we'll end up. "

" Y/N, it's not a bad deal right? " Joshua tried to convince you with full force, he clasped his hand to yours.

" Let's give this a shot, Y/N."

"And I promise you... I won't let us break each other's heart."
