Preschool Tantrums: Tin and Can

THREE YEARS OLD

"Tin, I swear to God if you don't get your ass up I will kill you." Can said with his hands over Nova's ears. He was in Nova's room getting her ready for her first day of preschool, it was already hard enough because she really didn't want to go because she didn't think anyone would like her. Can told her that not everyone is going to like her but a few good friends that will be there through it all is better than having everyone like her.

After reassuring her, Can had to deal with his next problem which was his husband who refused to get up, Can understood that he had a long night last night and Can did let him sleep in while he feed Nova but now it was time to get up and get going. If he didn't get up, Can would leave his ass behind and then he would miss out on seeing their daughter off on her first day.

"I'm up, I was just in the bathroom" Tin said coming into the room freshly showered and in casual clothes.

"Daddy" Nova said as Can finish getting her dressed. She ran over to him and he picked her up and kissed her cheek. Nova was still a Daddy's girl but she is now a bit more of a Papa's girl then when she was one.

Nova was growing into a beautiful young lady which he had no clue how they did that since she was always surrounded by guys. It was probably because his mother and sister were such great influences, they taught a clueless Tin and Can about girls fashion and how to do her hair since her hair was down to her shoulders. Nova was definitely a mixture of her parents looks and personality, she could be cold and secretive like her dad and happy and full of life like her papa but most of the time she is a happy three-year-old so very much loved.

"No one will like me if I go" Nova said.

"I bet that a few people will like you and if no one can see how amazing you are then it's their loss." Can said.

"Papa is right, you are a beautiful little girl and anyone would be lucky to have you as a friend, as long as they are just friends, no dating till you're fifty." Tin said making Can roll his eyes. Tin was going to be fun to watch when Nova starts dating.

"I want a boyfriend" Nova said.

"Too bad, you are not having a boyfriend." Tin said.

"But I want a boyfriend" Nova said.

"I don't care, you are not allowed to date ever." He said making Nova cry.

"Now look what you have done." Can said picking her up to comfort her.

"I'm just telling her the truth." Tin said.

"You are not helping so go grab something to eat then start the car." Can said as Nova stopped crying. Tin left the room while Can set Nova on the floor to put her socks and shoes on.

"Daddy is mean" Nova said making Can chuckle.

"You are his little girl, he wants to protect you so you don't get hurt."

"I'm a big girl, Papa"

"You are, but Daddy sees you as a baby and wants you all to himself." Can said as he finished putting her socks and shoes on. He picked her up and left her room before heading downstairs, Tin was nowhere in sight meaning he was already in the car. Can left the house with Nova and made his way to the car, once he put Nova in her booster seat, he buckled her up then closed the backseat door before getting into the passenger seat. Tin then drove them all to Nova's preschool where Nova started crying again, this time it was because her parents weren't coming with her.

"I promise you sweetheart, we will be here to pick you up in a few hours." Can said.

"I WANT YOU AND DADDY TO STAY WITH ME!!" Nova screamed. Tin took her from Can to try to get her to calm down once they got her out of the car and into the building. She just cried and no amount of words were going to calm her down, so they did what the teacher told them to do, they put her down and walked out of the building. As they walked to the car, they could still hear the cries of their little girl, they got into the car and Can broke down into tears, he felt like a horrible parent.

"Cantaloupe, look at me" Tin said. Can looked at him with tears running down his face.

"I feel like such a horrible parent."

"She will be okay, right now she is not getting her way and she doesn't like that. We are being good parents by teaching her that she doesn't always get what she wants and that it's okay to sometimes do things without us."

"I know, I just hate when she cries." Can said.

"Me too" Tin said. They headed home so Tin could work in his home office while Can who was a stay-at-home dad could clean up and get some laundry done. A few hours later they were back in the car headed to pick up Nova, they hoped she had a good time, but they were prepared for anything as they pulled up to the curb. They both got out and headed inside where they waited for the kids to come out of the classroom. Their faces lit up when the door opened and kids came out with the teachers, Tin's face fell when he saw Nova holding hands with a little white boy.

"Don't flip out" Can said as Nova and the boy came over to them with his parents.

"Who is this, sweetheart?" Can asked.

"This is Frankie, he's my boyfriend" Can felt Tin tense and apparently the parents of Frankie noticed it to cause his mother quickly picked up Frankie who let go of Nova's hand.

"I'm sorry about that" the mother said in Thai.

"It's okay, my husband is just very protective but I think it's very cute." Can said before picking up Nova.

"Same here, I'm Lynn Jameson and this is my husband, Johnny."

"Nice to meet you, I'm Can and this is my husband, Tin."

"Nice to meet you too" Johnny said.

"Same" Tin said.

"Frankie, say goodbye we have to get going." Lynn said.

"Bye bye Nova" Frankie said.

"Bye bye Frankie" she said. The Jamesons left leaving the Medthanans alone.

"They seemed nice" Can said as they turned to leave.

"If he had held her hand a minute more things would have turned not so nice." Tin said as they left the building and headed home.
