Sleep Deprived and First Real Smile: Arthit and Kongpob

THREE MONTHS

Arthit yawned as he finished up some paperwork at work, he was tired but he needed to finish the last bit of the project he and his coworkers have been working on for the past few days. His return to work was met with an after-work party and women asking to see picture of KJ which Arthit happily showed them since he was obsessed with her. He hated to leave her but Kong swore that he would take care of her since he was his own boss and could work from home.

KJ loved being with her dad almost as much as she loved being with her Papa. She was getting more and more beautiful every day and she loves tummy time and when her dad holds her up by her armpits to help her stretch out her legs. She had yet to give her first real smile or laugh, she had smirked at them but has yet to give a full smile or laugh even when they brought her home, she has never given them a real smile or laugh. They had tried to get her to smile and laugh for them but she would only give them a smirk. That smirk was the one thing they hated. It was like that smirk was saying "nice try but you aren't getting me to smile suckers" Arthit and Kongpob had a bet going on about who can make her laugh and smile first.

Arthit sighed as he gathered his bag to go home. He was going to get that baby to smile and laugh at him. He was looking forward to it and getting some sleep, Kyla Joy sleeping habits were getting better but at least two or three times a week Kyla Joy would wake up every other hour.

He drove home thinking about how he was going to get her to smile, he had to think outside the box. A smile came across his face when he thought of something he had seen this on YouTube. It was a video of a baby laughing at her dad when he rips paper. It may be a dumb idea but he would do anything to make his daughter laugh.

He pulled into the driveway of his house and parked his car next to Kong's before turning it off. He got out and headed inside where he found Kong in the living room working on helping Kyla Joy sit up. She had been showing signs that she has been wanting to start sitting up, so they had been helping her learn that.

"Hey" Arthit said.

"Hey, look who is here Kyla Joy?" Kong said turning KJ so she could see her Papa. Kyla Joy gave him a smirk before trying to reach for her toy.

"How's my beautiful girl today?" Arthit asked picking up KJ after he set his bag on the couch.

"Tell Papa that Grandma and Grandpa Suthiluck came to visit and helped Dad watch you while Dad was on a conference call with some very important investors. Then after that Grandma and Grandpa left and Daddy decided to help me to learn to sit up till you got here." Kong said.

"Did you have fun with Grandma and Grandpa?" Arthit said kissing her cheek.

"They have been trying to get her to smile or laugh and I had to reassure them that she doesn't smile or laugh at us either." Kongpob said.

"That is going to change since I have an idea that will probably win this bet." Arthit said.

"You are not going to win twenty bucks because our baby is a soulless baby." He said. "I have been working on her all day and came up with nothing."

"That's because you are not funny." Arthit said handing Kyla Joy to him.

"Hey, I am funny!!"

"Funny looking yes, but funny I don't think so." Arthit said before heading into Kongpob's home office to grab some paper from his printer. He grabbed a few sheets before heading back downstairs to the living room.

"What are you going to do with that?" Kong asked from the floor. He was sitting cross legged with Kyla Joy in the middle of them.

"I'm going to rip it and see what she does." Arthit said.

"You think that is going to make her laugh?" Kong said with skepticism in his voice.

"It's worth a try" Arthit said before sitting down in front of KJ. He set the sheets of paper on the floor next to him before taking two sheets of paper and put them together before holding it in front of Kyla Joy. She looked at it then up at her Papa. before Arthit ripped it down the middle, Kyla Joy just looked at it before smirking. Even more determined to get her to laugh, Arthit ripped one of the pieces of paper again.

"Just give up, we are not going to get her to laugh." Kongpob said. Arthit sighed before standing up, not noticing the paper under his foot. He took a step forward and the paper went with him making him slip and fall backwards onto his back. Kyla Joy started to laugh and smile making Arthit and Kongpob freeze.

"You laughed, you twisted child" Kongpob said turning her around to face him.

"She really laughed" Arthit said smiling from ear to ear. He got up onto his hands and knees before moving over to them. He kissed Kyla Joy's cheek as she finished laughing and was just smiling at them. He then kissed Kong before they both made her laugh again.
