Sleep Deprived and First Real Smile: Tin and Can

THREE MONTHS

Tin jumped a little when his assistant touched his shoulder, he had apparently fallen asleep again. For the past few days Nova's sleep patterns have been a bit crazier than when they first brought her home. He hoped that next week when she is four months old her sleeping patterns would get better. On top of that, Nova has been hiding her smiles from them, both Can and Tin would turn around and Nova would smile but when they turned back around it was like it never existed, it was very frustrating for them.

"Mr. Medthanan, it's almost five o'clock why don't you go home early, the rest of the paperwork can wait till Monday." She said. 

"Thanks April" Tin said before standing up

"No problem, I had your driver bring the car around to the front." April said.

"Thanks, see you Monday" He said before grabbing his things then heading out. As he got into the backseat of the car his phone rang, he pulled out his phone to see Can was trying to face time him. He smiled as he hit answer and Can's face appeared.

"Hey babe" Can said smiling.

"Hey babe, I'm on my way home a little early today because I keep falling asleep."

"Okay, I called to ask what you wanted to eat for dinner."

"I probably will just eat something small since I am not that hungry." He said.

"Okay, I'll just make an omelet for both of us." Can said.

"Hey babe?"

"Yeah"

"Have you caught her smiling yet?" He asked.

"No, I really tried this time" he pouted. "She reminds me of a certain someone that refused to smile or show emotion." Can said making Tin chuckle.

"I warmed up, didn't I?" Tin said.

"You did but it took a while, what if she doesn't smile till she's a year old or more?" Can worriedly said.

"Then we will consult with her doctor and see if it something neurological or if she just doesn't want to smile."

"Or laugh" Can added.

"Babe, we're pulling up to the house, so I'll talk to you when I get inside." Tin said.

"Okay, love you"

"Love you too" he said before he hung up. His driver pulled into the driveway and got out to open the door for Tin, Tin got out and thanked the driver before telling him to enjoy his weekend. He headed inside and went in search of Can and Nova.

The past two months that Nova has been with them had been amazing besides the fact that she is a sneaky devil when it comes to smiling and laughing. She loves it when her dad gives her a full body work out to help her get ready to roll over, stand or walk. She is becoming a very observant baby as her neck muscles are getting stronger, she already follows her papa with her eyes whenever he moves while holding her. She loves to talk, more like yell but it's still cute, she loves bath time and cries when it's time to get out of her little tub.

Tin found them in Nova's room where Can was watching her from his rocking chair on her stomach for tummy time. He smiled and went straight to Nova, picking her up and kissing her cheek.

"Hello sweetheart, how's daddy's princess?" He asked making Nova start talking.

"Does Papa get a kiss too?" Can asked standing up and going over to them.

"He certainly does" Tin said before leaning over and kissing him. They had no clue that their daughter was smiling at them, when they broke apart the smile vanished.

"How was work besides falling asleep there?" Can asked.

"Good" he said. "What about you? How was your last exam?"

"I think I passed" Can said. Can was so close to graduating with a major in Physical Education, he wanted to be a soccer coach for the university he hoped to graduate from.

"I have faith in you" Tin said leaning in and kissing him. They froze when their lips touched and they heard a laugh come out of Nova's lips, they broke away to see Nova straight faced.

"You heard that right?" Can asked.

"Yeah, let's do it again just to make sure we heard it right." Tin said. They leaned in and kissed and again heard Nova laughing. They pulled back and Nova once again stopped laughing and went straight faced, so they decided to do it again but this time they wouldn't break the kiss. When their lips touched again, Nova again laughed. Tin and Can looked over without breaking the kiss and saw Nova smiling and laughing for the first time. It was a beautiful smile. They broke apart but this time since she knew she had been caught, Nova slowly stopped laughing and just smiled at her parents. She sure is an interesting baby, Can guessed she would have more of her dad in her than her papa.
