The Hunt for the Power Stones

Chapter 16 - A New Day, Dawn and Doom.

A new morning, a new day, and another good night's rest, that day, the town had the burial of their friend and leader while our heroes continued their journey. The child's mother had offered them some food for the road and the town's best wishes. Malik, James, and Nathaniel traveled back to the river where they met Christopher. " Where to next boss," said James, They all sat down while Malik took out the book, the weather was still cold but the snow had started to melt, they sat under some big trees to plan their next attack.  " The 4th stone is called The Frozen Sapphire stone," said Malik " The Dragon containing the stone was claimed to be the easiest dragon to slay, This dragon would rarely come out of the frosted icy caves. He slept most days and only came out to eat". " was it really necessary to kill him then," said Nathaniel. " I Don't know, the dragon's power was a threat and I guess purely existing, was enough of a reason to kill them" said Malik. 

" The notes say, once the dragon was slain the stone had been tested and the abilities were incredible. The only weakness it had was the holder of the stone could not exit into daylight or be in contact with fire. The skin would burn and feel as if it were melting" said Malik " I guess the only time the dragon left was at night" said James. " Yeah guess so" said Malik. " What abilities does the stone contain," said Nathaniel while making a fire to warm the group up. "Let me see, ah yes, the Sapphire stone would give the holder the ability to freeze water an control ice at will" said Malik". " Whoa, okay well we better gather more clothing, I get this feeling this will be a cold-blooded fight," said Nathaniel. 

" The Frozen icy caves are at the end of this river it says here on the map, we should head towards it before it gets dark" said Malik. The men were energized and ready to fight whoever this man was. They were a few hundred feet away from the caves and the snow had started to turn into a clear icy field. This was not normal, they knew they were getting close. The Icy field was a very clever trap made to alert the hidden member of any intruders as he can detect icy breaking a mile away. 

They stopped by the side of a huge rock cliff, they were all the way at the bottom and saw multiple entrances with Icy spiked shards poking out of the wall. The 3 men had devised a plan that should work. They relied on 2 factors, the element of surprise and diversion manipulation. Their current plan was t wait it out all night taking turns looking at the entrances for the enemy to prevent breaking any ice wandering around looking for the right cave. James had gotten on a horse and traveled back to the village to collect a huge amount of cloth material, James knew they had all day since the Sapphire stone holder would not come out during daylight. With the help of the village's best sowers, they all came together to make 1 tall and wide sheet that would be used for the trap by stitching up piece by piece.    

Several hours later, the cloth sheet was completed, James rolled it up and threw it onto his horse. The horse was surprised by the weight of his reaction to it on his back. So James decided not to ride on him for the way back. The night was coming in and James had arrived finally with the sheet. Malik had hidden the horses away form them to not be heard or seen. Nathaniel was on first watch duty with Jeffrey, while the 2 men rested for the fight. " Lagos, Lagos GUYS wake up it's Lagos" whispered Nathaniel to his sleeping friends. Lagos was a very "Unique" individual he liked to be alone and when he was chosen to work with Servic it was purely for his skills of crafting weapons.
