Chapter - 27 The Swampy Search

"We need to find Sergas today, these people don't have a lot of time left," said James. "Do you have any Idea where Sergas was staying at?" said Nathaniel "No, sorry" said Gabriel, "Let's go ask the leader of this village, he has to know something," said Malik. They all headed to where the Villager's leader lived, thanks to Gabriel knowing the way. When they arrived they witnessed him laying in a bed. "Oh no, he got you too?" said Gabriel rushing to the sick man. "Gabriel, you're back, and you brought friends, please you have to stop this man and save what's left of the children of our village," "why did he do this," said Nathaniel "This was a result of something that happened years ago, We live in these swamps because we once praised the Dragon that lived here, He did us no harm and only brought us good fortune. He was our god, but one-day Service and his crew including Sergas killed the Dragon and our god and left us with nothing. So one day, a few months later I went with a group of our strongest men and we secretly planned on assassinating one of Servic's crew. It just happened to be Sergas and when we arrived at Columbus, we took down the guards watching the entrance and found out where Sergas slept, his son who was now a man saw what we were about to do and stopped us. I was forced to kill him leaving Sergas crying on the floor holding his son. We just managed to getaway. Years later I guess Sergas returned with the same abilities as our god, he killed and poisoned every single child of our village, leaving all the parents devastated. Please kill that monster and save our village. "Don't worry, we will, We also know how to cure you and the sick so stay strong, we will return. Please just tell us where you saw Sergas last" " I saw him entering a cave west from here on the edge of the swamp, you should find him there," said the man. " Thank you, We will do everything we can, " said Malik.

" Let's go, " said Malik to the group. They all jumped on their horses and rode off as fast as they could to this cave. Nathaniel was feeling hopeful that he would be saved and could help all those kids he saw. 30 minutes later They could see a huge long wall made by glowing purple spikes, stopping them from going forward any further. " This must be the place," said Nathaniel. They all got off the horses and tied them up nearby but far enough from the spikes. "Stay here Jeffrey and make sure no one touches the horses, It's too dangerous for you to come with us" said Malik. They got their swords out and shields and proceeded into the spike filled path. They had to remain in a 1 man file line, Malik was in front cutting away the thorns as if he were cutting branches in a Jungle, making sure they don't touch any of them. " Over there " whispered James pointing at the entrance of a cave. 

Gabriel was feeling scared as he had never really been in a fight before or used his magic with an intent to hurt anyone. He knew that he had to be strong and help his new friends so he kept going on with a forced brave face. Once the men had arrived at the entrance of the cave, they quickly got their weapons ready to fight this monster. Malik knew that swamp water was flammable from all the toxins and parasites so they all dipped their swords and arrows into the water coating it with the slimy substance. Gabriel formed a fireball in his hand and allowed the men to light their swords and arrows on fire. They were going to need to if they wanted light and a stronger weapon to take Sergas down. 

Once all their weapons were lit they moved in slowly and cautiously. Gabriel didn't have a sword or shield he just had his magic but realistically that's all he needed. He only knew a handful of spells as he was still training with his mother, but he was determined to do whatever he had to do. 

The men heard movements and metal rattling. They walked into a huge opening into the cave that had bats and a very sinister feel to it. They could see at the other side of the cave a silhouette of a man. " That's him " whispered Gabriel. It was going to be hard to fight Sergas as most of his body was filled with these thorns and quills that arrows would just bounce off. " SERGAS!!!, You have caused enough harm to this village and you will no longer be able to hurt anyone else" yelled Malik. " HAHAHA, you think you can stop me? , You and what army " replied Sergas. " I don't need an army to take you down, I'm sure you've heard by now half your friends are dead thanks to us, your just a stepping stone," said Malik. " AND YOU WILL DIE FOR THAT " yelled Sergas.
