The Hunt for the Power Stones

Chapter 18 - The Mother Load

James did not sleep much that afternoon, it was too cold, he'd prefer to care for the horses by keeping them moving and warm. An hour later he saw Nathaniel and Malik with a bloody sword and grins on their faces. " We got it " said Malik. " He put up a fight " said Nathaniel, showing his ripped up robes. James grabbed the box of stones and opened it up with the 3 stones inside. Malik carefully grabbed the Frozen Sapphire stone and back in its places. 

"Let's get out of this dam frozen wasteland" said Nathaniel, They all packed up their things and with their horses, rode east towards a forest in the distance for warmth and shelter. Nathaniel and Malik had told James about what they did in the icy caves while they were on the way. " WOW, sounds like you didn't need me after all" said James. "We will always need each other" said Malik. An hour of riding later they arrived at an opening in the forest, James tied up the horses to a tree, and Nathaniel made a quickfire to warm their hands and dry their shoes. 

" This whole stone business, it's tiring dangerous work " said Nathaniel. " Yea but you're doing well guys" said Malik. Malik opened the book of stones and turned to the next section titled " The Amethyst stone of levitation, This stone was once held by the Mother of all dragons." " WHAT!" said James. "Yea it also states that Servic and his crew encountered the first female dragon when they heard loud explosions, She lived on an abandoned castle that was surrounded by lake Mareotis. This Dragon was the only dragon to have ever existed, that could not fly. She had the power of levitation, Servic's crew took days of fighting her. They only succeeded by using distraction. The Dragon was very powerful and could levitate huge rock pillars and boulders at whoever she pleased. Servic had to climb the Kingdom's watchtower, while one of the members of the brotherhood volunteered to use the emerald speed stone, to avert all incoming projectiles. With all the green light he projected he got the dragon to chase him to the bottom of the watchtower and stood still. The dragon killed the poor knight names Xavier giving enough time for Servic to jump off the tower, killing the mother dragon with his sword. That day, Servic went home with the speed stone and the Amethyst stone. 

Servic and his crew had a mutual friendship with Morpheus at the time of the dragon killings, what Morpheus doesn't know is that Servic killed his mother. This Dragon head got taken away by Servic and back to the castle as proof of the destruction of the Mother dragon. The rest of the heads were taken back to the Den. Servic had told Morpheus that he scared his mother away and to never return after slashing her with the spear. Morpheus understood at the time that these means were necessary to keep this dragon away. 

"You know it's crazy how we haven't had to use any stones to defeat any of our enemies " said James. "Yea except for Christopher" said Nathaniel " And may he rest in peace" said Malic. "Where is this castle," said James "On the other side of Mount Cole and according to the map it is west past this forest" said Malik. "The Mage has mentioned that once the dragon was slain, Servic took her head and threw the body into the lake, 2 days later a knight had returned having lost his sword, he swam to the castle and died from a toxic poisoning. The lake had turned deadly to all living creatures...

"Gosh I sure am glad we have this book" said James. "So do we know any weakness that the holder may have" said Nathaniel. "That's all it says, I guess we'll have to do what we do best... Improvise" said Malik.
