9-Is this actually happening?

As soon as Bex arrived, her, Ashley and I went up to Janette's ward. When we got to the doors I suddenly felt sick with nerves. There was only one family in the room so I guessed it must be Janette. Bex gave me a reassuring hug and asked if I was ready. I just nodded and thought is this actually happening.

Just as we entered the woman turned around and came over to us. Bex introduced us to her then she introduced herself and her son who was lying in the hospital cot with a lot of wires and tubes coming out of him to which I didn't know what to do. My real mum was standing in front of me and I froze. When I'd pulled myself together I went over to the hospital cot that my brother was in with loads of tubes and wires coming out of him. I gently stroked my thumb against his tiny hand. "I'm your big sister." I said before turning around to Janette. "Have they said anything yet?" Janette just stood there shaking her head. All of a sudden I remembered why I was here and went over to my bag to get the card. I walked over to Janette "this is for you" Janette started getting emotional and I felt bad. She must have seen it in my face as she pulled me in for a hug and whispered thank you in my ear. I stood there rubbing her back allowing her to let all her tears out.

Once Janette had calmed down, the doctor came in and took Janette somewhere to talk while Bex, Ashley and I stayed with my brother. Aljaz came back and wanted to know what we were doing and where Janette was. As soon as we'd told him that she was with the doctor he ran out to try and find them. Ashley left to update Chloe and get us drinks.

Not long after he'd left, Janette and Aljaz came back. I could tell that it wasn't good news. Janette and Aljaz went over to Noah's cot. I could tell that Janette was just about keeping it together. Ashley came back, sensed the atmosphere and suggested that me,Bex and he left then changed his mind as soon as he saw Janette's reaction.

I knew that I had to be strong for her and went over to give her a hug. Aljaz still didn't know who I was but soon worked it out. Standing there hugging Janette I could feel her shaking, I tried to comfort and calm her down. After she was able to speak, I suggested that her, me and Bex went to get some air.
