46- catching up with Lacey

I'll be at yours in half an hour

Lace, we both know that you mean at least an hour

Am I really that predictable

It's not like I've known you since I was 5 and when you say a time then I know to add at least half an hour to it

You know me to well. Am I still ok to come to yours?

I could hear Chloe getting up so I went to make sure that she was alright and I knew exactly where I'd find her.

Me: "it's ok, your little princess is here"
Chloe: "thanks"
Me: "hey, what's wrong?"
Chloe: "just fed up of always either being sick or feeling sick"
Me: "it'll pass eventually. You still ok with Lacey coming over?"
Chloe: "of course. She's your best friend and you haven't seen her in ages. Have you got any plans?"
Me: "just meeting her here then we're going to decide. Where's Ashley?"
Chloe: "it'll be nice to see her. Don't know he left before I woke up"

Lacey eventually arrived and I was so excited. As soon as I saw her I ran up to her and gave her a massive hug. I let her in and it was like we'd never been away from each other.

Chloe had gone back to bed after I'd found her in the bathroom so Lacey and I stayed downstairs until I heard her running to the bathroom.

Me: "I'll be back in a minute, can you bring me up a glass of water please?"
Lacey: "is everything ok?"
Me: "I'll explain in a bit. I need to go"

I quickly ran up the stairs and found Chloe in the bathroom. Lacey came up with a glass of water for Chloe.

Lacey: "you ok Chloe?"
Chloe: "I will be in a minute, thanks for the water"
Lacey: "it's ok. Ava is Chloe ok?"
Me: "she will be. I'm going to sit with her for a bit"
Lacey: "what's going on?"
Chloe: "haven't you told her?"
Me: "not yet, I wanted to see her reaction"
Lacey: "does someone wanna tell me what's going on?"
Me: "haven't you worked out what's going on?"
Lacey: "nope"
Me: "stay here with Chloe and I'll be back in a minute"

I quickly went to my room to get the scan photo from the side of my bed and went back to the bathroom.

Me: "close your eyes and hold out your hands"

I placed the photo in her hand.

Me: "you can open now"
Lacey: "what is it?"
Me: "have a look and everything will make sense"
Lacey: "Chloe are you pregnant?"
Chloe: "I am"
Lacey: "congratulations! Ava I see why you waited to tell me"
Chloe: "thanks"
Me: "how you feeling?"
Chloe: "a bit better. Can't wait for this to pass. Have you two got anything planned?"
Me: "lace what do you wanna do?"
Lacey: "I don't mind. I'm guessing you don't really wanna leave Chloe"
Me: "not really"
Lacey: "how about we have a movie day? Chloe can join if she wants"
Me: "do you want to Chlo?"
Chloe: "as long as I'm not in the way"
Me: "you could never be in the way. Plus you both wanted to see each other"
Chloe: "can't guarantee that I'll be much company but if you're both sure then I'll join you"
Lacey: "that's sorted then. Ava are your dvds still in the same place?"
Me: "yeah why?"
Lacey: "I'll go get a few, take them downstairs and set up the tv while you wait for Chloe"
Me: "you sure?"
Lacey: "yeah"
Me: "thanks"

Lacey went off to find some dvds and to set them up while I waited for Chloe.

Me: "you don't have to join us if you're not up to it"
Chloe: "it'll be a nice distraction. Have you told her about Janette and Ashley?"
Me: "not much. Like you said we'll not talk about it. How you feeling?"
Chloe: "better thanks. Shall we go downstairs?"
Me: "only if you're sure"
Chloe: "yeah"

As soon as Chloe and I got downstairs, Lacey had set up the DVD player and made popcorn. Chloe and I curled up on the sofa while Lacey sat on the chair. The film hadn't been on five minutes when Chloe started yawning.

Me: "Lace, chuck me the blanket please"

Lacey chucked me over the blanket.

Me: "go to sleep if you want"
Chloe: "I'm ok"
Me: "I know you're not. Even if it's just a few minutes you'll be thanking me"
Chloe: "I wanna watch the film"
Me: "you and I can watch it together whenever we like so what's really up?"
Chloe: "what happens if I have a nightmare or something?"
Me: "then I'll be here to comfort you as always. It'll be ok trust me"
Chloe: "promise you won't leave me?"
Me: "when have I left you before? I'll be here when you wake up"

Chloe rested her head on my shoulder so I chucked the blanket over us and started stroking her hair. Not even two minutes later she was fast asleep.

Lacey: "what's going on?"
Me: "what do you mean?"
Lacey: "the last time I saw Chloe she was happy and always trusted you but now she's started questioning you in a way"
Me: "Lace, it's really complicated. Like loads of things have happened but I know what I'm doing"
Lacey: "I don't doubt that for a second. I wanna help. I thought we told each other everything"
Me: "I wanna tell you but it's so complicated and most of it isn't even my place to tell you"
