Finding my mum

30- spending the week with Janette

When Ashley, Chloe and I had got back from the meeting, we all went to pack; Ashley and Chloe for their honeymoon and I had to pack as I was spending the week with Janette. I couldn't wait as it meant I'd see Noah every day but I hadn't fully forgiven Ashley for everything. It was at the back of my mind that he could flip out again when they were away.

I was part way through packing when there was a knock at my bedroom door.

Me: "come in"

Chloe enters

Chloe: "hey you"
Me: "hey yourself"
Chloe: "you ok?"
Me: "why wouldn't I be?"
Chloe: "this is me you're talking to. Sit down"

I did as Chloe said.

Chloe: "what's up?"
Me: "I'm going to miss you"
Chloe: "I'll miss you as well but you're going to have an amazing week with Janette. When we get back we can have a massive girls night in catching up"
Me: "true. You will be ok won't you?"
Chloe: "you're worried about me being away with Ashley alone aren't you?"
Me: "maybe"
Chloe: "I'll message you everyday and I'll be careful"
Me: "promise"
Chloe: "I promise"
Me: "Chloe"
Chloe: "yeah"
Me: "will you help me pack please? You know what I'm like"
Chloe: "of course I will"

I hate packing; always have and always will. But packing with Chloe was always fun. We turned my CD player on and started dancing around my room chucking everything on my bed then we'd pack it properly.

Once everything was in my suitcase, I double checked to make sure that I hadn't forgotten anything. I went to help Chloe finish hers then we loaded all the cases in the car.

Me: "why can't I stay with you tonight?"
Chloe: "we're dropping you off then going to the airport hotel ready for our flight in the morning"

The car journey to Janette's was quiet which wasn't normal. When we got to Janette's, her and Noah were waiting by the window. Seeing Noah made me feel a little bit better. Ashley took my case out of the car and up their front steps for me. Saying goodbye to Chloe broke my heart but I knew that it was only a week. It was going to be a long week and the longest that Chloe and I had ever been away from each other.

After I'd said goodbye I ran up the steps and took Noah from Janette to stop myself from falling apart. Once we'd waved them off, Janette gave me a tour of the house.

Once we'd finished dinner, I helped Janette with Noah's bedtime routine. I checked my phone to a message from Chloe saying that they had arrived at the hotel, they were going for dinner and that she was missing me. I quickly replied then put my phone on silent. I quickly went in the shower being quiet so I didn't wake Noah then went to bed.

I woke up, checked my phone and text Chloe saying

Have a safe flight and time away. Don't miss me too much

I heard someone going downstairs so I went to see who it was. I found Aljaz making breakfast.

Me: "morning"
Aljaz: "morning"
Me: "do you want a hand?"
Aljaz: "do you know how to make pancakes?"
Me: "one of my specialties. I can't make coffee though"
Aljaz: "how about you make the pancakes and I'll make the coffee?"
Me: "sounds good. Are Janette and Noah awake?"
Aljaz: "not yet"

As Aljaz and I had finished making breakfast, Janette appeared.

Janette: "morning"
Me: "morning, breakfast is ready"
Aljaz: "Ava made the pancakes"
Me: "Aljaz made the coffee"
Janette: "let's eat before it gets cold"

We were nearly finished when we heard Noah on the baby monitor.

Me: "can I go?"
Janette: "of course"

As soon as I picked Noah up he stopped crying. I quickly changed him before going back downstairs. I helped Aljaz clean up.

Me: "what's the plan for today?"
Janette: "what would you like to do?"
Me: "hmmmmmmmm"
Aljaz: "you can tell that you're Janette's daughter!"
Me: "how?"
Janette: "because I make that noise whenever Aljaz asks me a question"
Me: "ah. Have either of you got anything planned?"
Aljaz: "I was going to see Kev in a bit"
Janette: "I haven't got anything planned"
Me: "what do you think monkey, what shall we do today?"

Noah and I look at each other and agreed.

Me: "would it be really boring if we just stayed here and played with his toys and watched tv?"
Janette: "not at all. Have you spoke to Chloe today?"
Me: "I text her when I woke up but I haven't checked to see if she's replied"
Janette: "why don't you go and check then we can watch tv and play?"
Me: "coming monkey?"

Noah lifted his arms and started smiling when I picked him up.

I found where I'd put my phone to two messages from Chloe

Thank you my princess. Have an amazing week with Janette. Of course I'm going to miss you.

Just boarded and will be taking off soon. I'll message you when we get there

"Come on then mister. Let's go have some fun"

Aljaz was getting ready to leave as we went back downstairs.

Me: "bye"
Aljaz: "bye"

Janette: "you ok?"
Me: "yeah, Chloe's boarded and probably up in the sky by now"
Janette: "hey, she'll be alright and you two will be reunited soon"

Janette was right. Before I knew it the week was over and I was packing to go back to Chloe and Ashley's tomorrow with a little monkey helping me.
