53- Chloe's 20 week scan

How is Chloe half way through her pregnancy already?

Ashley had gone away: no idea where but it meant that it was just Chloe and I together.

Chloe had had a rough night with her sickness and nightmares.

Flashback

It must have been like half three when there was a knock at my door and I could hear Chloe crying. I flew out of bed, rushed to open the door then held my arms out for her and stroked her hair as she sobbed into my shoulder. Once she'd calmed down I sat with her on my bed while she told me what happened.

Me: "stay here I'll go get you some water"

I quickly ran downstairs to get her some water, then came back upstairs to give Chloe her water and stroked her hair until she fell asleep.

End of flashback

I'd let her stay as she looked like she was happy and if she had another nightmare then I'd be there quicker to calm her down.

When I woke up Chloe was curled up with her head on my chest. I really didn't want to move as I knew it'd wake her up while she looked so peaceful; it was the happiest I'd seen her in ages.

I eventually moved and managed not to wake Chloe. I got dressed and ready then I knew that I'd have to wake Chloe up.

Me: "time to wake up sleeping beauty"
Chloe: "how am I in here?"
Me: "don't you remember what happened?"
Chloe: "no"
Me: "you woke up in the middle of the night crying, came to my room and fell asleep. I didn't have the heart to move you"
Chloe: "oh"
Me: "it's ok. Don't forget it's your 20 week scan today"
Chloe: "how could I forget?"
Me: "it'll be ok and I'll be with you. Shall we have a girls night in tonight since Ashley's away and you definitely need something to keep you going"
Chloe: "only if I can pick the film"
Me: "of course. I'm not going to argue with you"
Chloe: "thanks my little princess"
Me: "you go have a shower while I make you some breakfast"

When we got to the hospital, we signed in and sat down.

Maddie: "Chloe please"

As we were walking I could tell how nervous Chloe was. I grabbed her hand to give her some reassurance.

We got into the scan room, Chloe was terrified and I couldn't blame her. Especially as she was nearly at the stage where she'd lost Eddie. I sat on the edge of the bed stroking her hair and talking to her while Maddie put the gel and ultrasound on.

Once Chloe and I had seen the baby on the screen and heard the heartbeat, Chloe started crying.

Maddie: "do you want to know if it's a boy or girl?"
Chloe: "I don't know"
Me: "it's entirely up to you. I'll support you in the decision you make. I have an idea"
Chloe: "go on"
Me: "did you find out with Eddie?"
Chloe: "we did"
Me: "how about we do the opposite this time and leave it as a surprise?"
Chloe: "I like it"
Maddie: "so what are you going to do?"
Chloe: "no thanks, I'm gonna leave it as a surprise"
Maddie: "ok, I'll go and get the pictures"
Me: "are you gonna have a baby shower?"
Chloe: "we didn't have one with Eddie but I can't say I wanna have one"
Me: "it's entirely up to you"
Maddie: "here you go. If you have any problems or questions then you know how to get hold of me"
Chloe: "thanks"

We grabbed our things and left.

Chloe: "what do you wanna do now?"
Me: "we can either go home and have a girls day with you picking the movie or we could go shopping and get something to eat"
Chloe: "how about we get something to eat and shop then watch a movie tonight?"
Me: "only if you're up to it and if you want to go home then you tell me"
Chloe: "promise"

We got in the car, put the radio on and started singing along. I knew that Chloe was feeling a bit better now.
