Finding my mum

24- meeting Aljaz

I was finally meeting Janette's husband Aljaz today. I'd met him briefly at the hospital when I was seeing Noah and Janette but apart from that I hadn't met him.

Chloe and I had fallen asleep on the sofa again. I quickly went to get ready leaving her to get some more sleep before I had to wake her up. I made us some breakfast, I was just about to wake her up but she walked into the kitchen.

Me: "morning, how you feeling?"
Chloe: "morning. Still shaken up but at least I'll be with you and Bex if anything happens"
Me: "I'll make sure Bex stays with you at all times. If you want to come home at any point let me know and we will"
Chloe: "thank you. And thanks for making me breakfast"
Me: "it's ok. We'll be alright because we always are. What do you want to say when anyone asks about your face?"
Chloe: "the truth, that Ashley freaked out and hit me"
Me: "only if you're sure. Bex is going to pick us up in about half an hour."
Chloe: "ok, I'm going to jump in the shower somehow and get ready"
Me: "ok, if you need a hand with your hair let me know"

We were just about ready to leave when Bex arrived. The look of shock on her face made me know that she couldn't believe what had happened. As we got in the car she started asking us what had happened and I could see Chloe disappearing into the place where I'd just got her out of.

When we got to the park, Chloe didn't want to get out of the car. I couldn't blame her. I ran over to Janette to say hi, then I turned around, saw Chloe still in the car with Bex having no luck trying to get her out and knew that she'd only come if I spoke to her.

"I'll be back in a minute" I said before running back to the car. "Give us a minute. It's been an interesting few days" Bex walked over to where Janette and Aljaz were leaving me to try and convince Chloe to come with us.

Me: "Talk to me"
Chloe: "I can't do it"
Me: "can't do what? Bex and I will be with you. If anyone says anything then they'll find themselves having an argument with me"
Chloe: "promise me something"
Me: "yeah"
Chloe: "that I'll be with you or Bex  always and never by myself"

I stood up from where I was, waved to Bex to come over.

Bex: "what's up?"
Me: "Chloe can stay with you at all times can't she?"
Bex: "of course. Is that what's worrying you?"
Chloe nodded.
Bex: "I'll keep you company and you can keep me company"
Chloe: "you won't leave me will you?"
Bex: "I promise that I won't leave you alone"
Me: "see. Come on let's go have some fun and use it as a distraction"

Chloe stood up holding my hand and came over to see Janette and meet Aljaz with me. Janette and Aljaz could sense that something was wrong and kept an eye out for Chloe as well without knowing what had happened.

We were about half way around the park. Everything was going as it was meant to be; I was getting to know Aljaz and Janette, Chloe was talking with Bex behind us when I suddenly saw Ashley with a friend. I knew that I had to get us out of sight quickly but it turned out that it wasn't quick enough and we'd been spotted.

Ashley came sprinting towards us yelling abuse at Chloe then chucked her against the wall we happened to be by. Aljaz and Ashley's friend tried to get Ashley off Chloe, Janette pulled me out of the way so I didn't get hurt. I couldn't stand seeing him behaving like this especially towards Chloe as it wasn't her fault.

Once the boys had got Chloe free, I ran over to her to try and calm her down. It took Bex, Janette and I to get her back to Bex's car. All I wanted to do was fall apart but I knew that I had to be stronger than ever for Chloe. I left her with Bex so I could say bye to Janette and Aljaz who'd caught us up. I saw Chloe say something to Bex as I was approaching the car.

On our way home I soon discovered what she'd said.
