Finding my mum

44- Chloe's 12 week scan

I couldn't believe that today was Chloe's 12 week scan. I couldn't wait to see my little brother or sister on the screen.

I heard Chloe run to the bathroom again, I was about to go but I heard Ashley go.

Now that Ashley and Chloe were on good terms I now felt out of place as it was Chloe and I against the world but now it felt like Ashley's taking my place. I wanted to say something but I didn't want to stress Chloe out so I decided to leave it.

I went downstairs to get breakfast and wait to find out what time we were leaving.

When they came downstairs I could tell that Chloe was really suffering with her morning sickness.

Me: "do you want some water?"
Chloe: "yes please"

I went to get her some, turned around and saw her running off again.

Me: "I'll go"

I took her water with me, knelt there holding her hair and rubbing her back.

Me: "just take small sips"
Chloe: "thanks"
Me: "it's ok"
Chloe: "where's Ashley?"
Me: "downstairs why?"
Chloe: "I'm glad you got up here before him. He's trying don't get me wrong but he doesn't rub my back the way you do"
Me: "I ran up here before he had the chance. You feeling any better?"
Chloe: "a little bit. Have you finished your breakfast?"
Me: "yep"
Chloe: "will you help me get dressed just in case I'm sick again?"
Me: "of course I will. Let me know when you're ready to move and we'll take it at your pace"

We sat there for a while until she was ready to try and move. We eventually got into the car to go for Chloe's scan.

When we got to the hospital, Ashley let us out so we could go to the ward while he parked the car. Chloe and I signed in and sat down waiting to be called in and for Ashley to meet us. Chloe rested her head on my shoulder so I started stroking her hair to calm her down.

As we were waiting my phone went off.

Tell Chloe I'm sorry I can't do it. I'll meet you in the car. Look after her for me please

Chloe: "Ashley isn't coming up is he?"
Me: "nope"

Midwife: "Chloe please"

I stood up then helped Chloe up and followed the midwife into the room. Chloe got on the bed while I sat on the seat next to her, holding her hand.

Midwife: "I'm Maddie. I met Chloe last time but I don't think we've met"
Me: "I'm Ava, Chloe's daughter"
Maddie: "hi. No Ashley today?"
Me: "he's in the car"
Maddie: "Chloe if you lift your top up then we can see what baby is doing. How's your pregnancy going so far?"
Chloe: "Ava I can't"
Me: "hey, shhh. I'm here and not going anywhere. It'll be ok, let's let Maddie do what she has to Ok?"
Chloe: "don't leave me please"
Me: "I wont"

I eventually convinced Chloe to lift her top up so that Maddie could put the gel on Chloe's stomach.

Me: "she has really bad morning sickness"
Maddie: "some women get it worse than others"
Me: "you're doing amazing, not much longer"
Chloe: "is the baby ok? Please tell me that they are"
Maddie: "everything looks as it should be"
Chloe: "can I hear the heartbeat?"
Maddie: "of course"

Once Chloe and Maddie were happy, Chloe and I went to find Ashley. When we got in the car Chloe completely blanked Ashley not that I could blame her.

Me: "what do you want to do when we get home?"
Chloe: "have a nap"
Me: "ok"

When we got home, Chloe threw up again so I stayed rubbing her back then helped her get to bed and stayed with her until she was asleep. I went to my room to message Lacey
