Finding my mum

51- looking after Lexi

Isla and Sam had a meeting with Lexi's teacher which they couldn't take her with them so I said I'd have her.

She'd already been dropped off. Lexi and I were trying to decide what to do before she got picked up.

Me: "what do you want to do today?"
Lexi: "watch tv"
Me: "shall we watch a Disney dvd?"
Lexi: "yaaaaaaa"

I showed Lexi my collection of dvds and left her to pick one while I went downstairs to get some popcorn and drinks. When I came back she'd chosen tangled. She passed me the dvd, got the popcorn and started to get comfy on my bed while I set it up. As soon as I sat down she decided that she wanted to sit on my lap which I let her. Whenever a song came on we both started singing.

Once the film had finished, we started talking

Lexi: "where's mama?"
Me: "they had to go out so you get to see me"
Lexi: "why?"
Me: "I thought you missed me so isn't it nice to see me?"
Lexi: "ya but me want mama"

Lexi's asking how long you're going to be

They're running late so I don't know

Me: "their meeting is running late so you're going to have to put up with me a bit longer"
Lexi: "they at nursery?"
Me: "how did you know?"
Lexi: "talk"
Me: "you heard them talking?"
Lexi: "ya"
Me: "they're worried about you. Do you like nursery?"
Lexi: "nooooo, me no go nursery"
Me: "why not?"
Lexi: "not nice"
Me: "who isn't"
Lexi: "people"
Me: "the staff?"
Lexi: "they nice"
Me: "the children"
Lexi: "me no like"
Me: "what happened?"
Lexi: "when no one looks they hit me and call me names"
Me: "have you told your mum or dad?"
Lexi: "no, it get worse if I do"
Me: "hey, come here. I'm proud of you for being brave enough to tell me. You did the right thing"
Lexi: "prom"
Me: "prom"
Lexi: "what about mama?"
Me: "we're going to have to tell her"
Lexi: "you tell"
Me: "do you want me to tell her when she picks you up?"
Lexi: "ya please"
Me: "ok. What do you want to do now?"
Lexi: "cuddles"

That was a waste of time. On way to yours. How's Lexi?

When they arrived Lexi had fallen asleep. I picked her up being careful not to wake her and took her downstairs to where I heard Isla, Sam and Chloe talking.
