33- my 17th

"Happy birthday to me!!!" I thought to myself when I woke up. "Hope Chloe's feeling better and I wonder what they have planned"

I checked my phone to messages from my friends who I'd reply to later then I saw a message from Janette.

Happy birthday sweetie. Have an incredible day and we'll see you later. Janette, Aljaz and your little monkey

Thank you! Tell monkey I can't wait for birthday cuddles

I found my dressing gown and went downstairs. Chloe and Ashley's door was open and there was no sign of Chloe so hopefully she was feeling better.

As I got to the bottom of the stairs I could hear Chloe whispering to Ashley to be quiet. I walked in and they both yelled surprise.

Chloe: "happy 17th my little princess"
Ashley: "happy birthday"
Me: "thank you! How you feeling?"
Chloe: "a bit better thanks"
Me: "you do look better. What's the plan for today?"
Ashley: "I'm going to make pancakes, then have presents then we're going out tonight"
Me: "I haven't had pancakes since you were on honeymoon and I was with Janette."

After we'd finished breakfast and I'd opened my presents, I was in my room when I heard Chloe throw up again. This wasn't normal and I'd have to talk to her but definitely when Ashley was out. I finished getting ready then went to find Chloe.

Me: "you feeling ok? I heard you"
Chloe: "would you be mad if I didn't come with you? I have no idea what's making me sick and I don't want to pass it on if it's a bug"
Me: "it'll be weird not having you there. Don't take this the wrong way but you look awful. You need to rest. You and I can celebrate when you're better"
Chloe: "thank you princess. Have an amazing time"
Me: "I'll try. I'll message you later to see how you are"

I went to tell Ashley that it was only us going out and went to get in the car.

When we got to the surprise location I realised it was where Ashley had proposed and where there wedding venue was. I got out of the car and headed towards the door where everyone yelled a mixture of happy birthday and surprise. I saw Janette and went over to say hi and have cuddles with Noah.

Janette: "happy birthday again"
Me: "thank you. How are you my little monkey?"
Janette: "isn't Chloe here?"
Me: "she wasn't feeling well so she's at home in bed. I said I'd message her later and video call her when we're cutting the cake"
Janette: "I bet she's devastated. Hope she feels better soon"
Me: "she is but she wasn't in a fit state to be out. Can I spend tonight partying with you all as I really don't want to be with Ashley?"
Janette: "we'd like that a lot. Let's go find Aljaz"

Janette, Noah and I went to find Aljaz who was talking to some people who I didn't know. I recognised one that must be Karen from when I was walking back from Ashley and Chloe's proposal but didn't know who the others were.

Me: "hi Aljaz"
Aljaz: "hiya, I see you two have been reunited. Happy birthday"
Me: "important things to be done first. Thank you"
Janette: "Ava this is Karen my best friend who you saw me with and this is Amy and her fiancé Ben."
Me: "hi"
Amy: "happy birthday"
Me: "thank you! You're on strictly with Janette and Karen aren't you?"
Amy: "I am. Janette you'll have to bring Ava down one weekend to meet everyone else"
Janette: "would you want to?"
Me: "I'd love to. Chloe and I love watching it on the weekends"
Janette: "we'll definitely arrange for you to come and meet the pros"
Aljaz: "where's Chloe? I've seen Ashley but not Chloe"
Me: "she's not feeling that well so she's at home in bed"
Aljaz: "is that why you're avoiding Ashley?"
Me: "maybe, plus I haven't seen you, Janette or this monkey since they got back from honeymoon so I thought it'd be nice to catch up"
Karen: "and a bonus you get to meet some of Janette's friends"
Me: "exactly"

I stayed talking to them for a bit then it was time to cut the cake. Noah decided that he was now going to wake up. I gave him to Janette so I could video call Chloe.

Janette saw me talking to people who must be my friends, Janette came over just as I turned around.

Me: "Noah's asleep again so we're going to have to go to get him to bed"
Ava: "before you go come and meet my best friend. Janette this is Lacey, Lacey this is Janette"
Me: "hi"
Lacey: "hi"
Ava: "I'm just going to say goodbye to Aljaz. Lacey do you wanna come and say hi?"
Lacey: "ok"

We all walked over to where Aljaz was with Amy, Ben and Karen. I introduced Lacey to them and said bye.

After everyone had gone, Ashley and I headed home to check on Chloe. I popped my head around Chloe's bedroom door but she was asleep so I left her and went to bed.
