Virgil watched as Janus walked himself back into the living room with this broken expression. Virgil knew. Janus was very verbally aggressive. He attacks people with sarcasm and cruel words before anything even happens to protect himself. There was a time he had to act out and be violent just to get some sort of attention. Virgil just guessed he never grew out of it. However, as much as he wanted to go in there and help Janus... his boyfriend needed him more right now.

Virgil walked himself to Roman's door and paused as he tried to figure out just what exactly he would say. After all that happened between him and Roman when he was the one that had triggered him, Roman had told him what it was that had happened. He actually opened up about his father and explained just what was wrong. There was more... Virgil knew that. Roman was as transparent as he could be about everything. So Virgil knew all of Roman's issues and problems except for one. Roman explained as much as he wanted to talk about it him he just couldn't... that he was scared. He'd only talk about in a vague sense so that Virgil got the understanding when something was wrong or just going one but... that was it.

So Virgil knew exactly what had happened when Janus had said the phrase 'get off your high horse...'. It was the same thing that happens when someone called Virgil mental.

"Ro?" Virgil knocked softly as he listened to the quiet footsteps through the door. As it creaked open Virgil couldn't help but break over Roman's dull eyes.

"What?"

"Can you let me in, please?" Roman nodded as he slowly walked away letting Virgil walk in after him. Virgil closed the door behind him with a sad smile as Roman just sat back down on his bed picking the small little box up from the nightstand. "Janus sends his apologies? He wanted me to make sure you knew he didn't mean anything he had said."

"He was right. I was being selfish."

"No, you weren't." Roman's eyes darkened as Virgil sat down across from him, his eyes never moving from the box. "It's not selfish to want not want someone to touch something that means a lot to you, Ro? We all know there are things we aren't to mess with. Not even Remus touches that box and he's your brother."

"It was my mother's." Virgil's eyes snapped up as Roman smiled with tears in his eyes. "She wasn't ever there. She... She was always with another man. One night stands and... lavish dates that always ended with..." Roman tensed up as this look of understanding filled his eyes much to Virgil's confusion. "But when she was there... when she did hang out with me, she was kind. She loved us. She wanted us to be happy... even if she knew she couldn't help to fix it. She tried her best but she still always went out, never sleeping in the same house twice... never sleeping in our house at all. Despite all her problems... I loved her."

"I understand, Roman." Roman shook his head as Virgil noticed the box shaking in his grip. "Roman, it's ok. To not want anything to happen to it is fine... and normal. It's ok."

"I don't want to be selfish. I don't want people to hate me. I don't hurt people because I..." Roman froze up as Virgil took his head in his hands and just smiled at him. "Virgil?"

"I love you, you know that right?" Roman nodded hesitantly as if conflicted with his answer. "Well, I do. I love you so much. You've helped me get past a lot of shit I've gone through, and your still here to help with more. You're the first person that's truly gotten to break through the walls I've put up since Marcos." Roman's eyes flashed as Virgil leaned his forehead against the others. "You are so far from being a selfish man. In fact... I'm very worried about you, Ro. You give so much of yourself and never ask for anything in return. It's ok to be a little selfish."

"No. No. No, I can't. I can't be selfish. I can't be."

"Roman..." Roman choked on his silent sobs as Virgil just pulled him into a hug. "It's ok, Love. It's ok. Don't listen to that mean old asshat of a father. Listen to me ok?" Virgil pulled away to stare right into those emerald eyes and he smiled. "It's ok to be a little selfish. It's ok to want something for yourself. It's ok to not want anyone to mess with something that means something to you. It's ok to get upset."

"But..."

"Roman, It's ok to be a little selfish." Roman's eyes slowly got a bit wider as Virgil teared up. "I'm selfish."

"No... No, your..."

"I am very selfish." Roman frowned as he held Virgil's hand in his trying to find the words to disprove it and make his love happy again. "I am. You might not believe it... but it's true. I'm very selfish... because I love you and want you all for myself." Roman's eyes shot wide as Virgil's smile grew. "I would never share you with anyone else. I want to take all your time. I want to be the only person you ever even look at because it makes me happy to see you smiling at me. You make me happy, Roman. I am very selfish for wanting to keep you all to myself when you mean so much to everyone else too."

"Virge..."

"Does that mean you hate me?" Roman's eyes filled with protective anger as he gripped Virgil's hands a smidge tighter.

"Never." Virgil just laughed as Roman frantically shook his head. "Never, Virgil. I could never. I love you..."

"But you've said so many times... nobody loves a selfish person." Roman faltered as Virgil brushed the other's hair back. "I just explained how I was selfish... and that's only one of many selfish things that I can do. Like my pocky... nobody touches my pocky." Roman couldn't hold back the slight laugh as Virgil let out a soft breath. "You said nobody could love anyone selfish... but you also just said you love me. So... Which one is it? Can no one love a selfish person... or is it ok to be a bit selfish?"

"I love you so much, Virgil." Roman leaned in pressing a soft yet emotional kiss into the other's lips as they breathed each other in. "I think I understand what you're saying."

"I love you too, Roman. I just want you to see yourself as I see you. Strong, kind... Selfless... You mean so much to me, Roman. I just hope you know that." Roman nodded as kissed his love again before suddenly clipping something around the other's neck. Virgil pulled away only to find a golden locket around his neck as Roman melted at the sight. "Wait, Ro... what?"

"I want you to wear it, Virgil. I think she would be happy with giving it to you."

"But, Roman... I don't understand." Roman chuckled as he tucked Virgil's hair behind his ear.

"Her greatest wish for her sons was for us to be happy. Now..." Roman's eyes dropped to the locket and his eyes shined with love. "Now she'll finally be able to see just how happy I am... because of you, Love. You make me the happiest I could ever be."

"You're so sappy." Virgil giggled as he leaned in against Roman, letting the to of them cuddle in bed together. "Thank you, Roman."

"No Virgil..." Roman placed a kiss to the youngers hair as he just melted. "Thank you."
