Momhie’s Baby

Angel was restless.

When she got home around 8:00 PM, Aen wasn't in the apartment.

She hastily charged her phone and opened it only to find a single message from Aen, sent around two hours ago, saying she needed to step out for an emergency.

She dialed Aen's number, but it seemed to be turned off.

Now, it was nearing midnight, and yet there was still no sign of her.

Angel didn't know where she went or how to find her,  and it was making her worried sick.

Every headline she had seen that morning about the "scandal" flashed through her mind, making her imagine the worst.

A beeping from the door startled her, and she instantly bolted toward the entrance.

Aen opened it, and to Angel, she looked completely exhausted, her eyes red from crying.

"Ate?"

Aen was closing the door, and when Angel spoke, she jumped.

She hadn't realized Angel was still awake.

"Hey... Why are you still up?"

"What do you mean 'why?' When I came home, you weren't here. I tried calling, but I couldn't reach you. It's been hours since you messaged me about an emergency. I was worried sick, Ate (Older Sister), so I couldn't sleep..."

Aen looked away, unable to meet her sister's eyes.

She felt guilty for making Angel worry, but she simply wasn't in the mood to talk.

She felt guilty for Angel who was worried about her but she isn't in the mood to talk.

"Ohh... Sorry... Uhm... My phone died?"

"Okay... So, where did you go? What was the emergency?"

"Just... somewhere... Sorry... I'm really tired, and I just want to rest. Can we talk about it tomorrow?"

Angel seemed to understand her friend's fragile state, so she just nodded.

"Fine then."

Aen nodded back.

Before retreating into her room, she mumbled a 'Good Night.' and quickly locked her door.

She didn't want to talk.

Her heart ached too much.

After she had left Yoongi, she had considered going straight to a local bar to drink and forget everything, but she changed her mind as soon as she reached  the entrance.

She couldn't risk getting wasted alone.

It was too dangerous.

Instead, she decided to buy two bottles of soju from a convenience store and headed to the bridge where Yoongi had confessed to her.

The ride had felt long, but when she arrived, she found a spot where she could sit and drink in peace.

The cold wind off the Han River felt like a physical weight, matching the silence of a night that should have been a celebration.

She slowly sipped the alcohol while remembering all the choices in her life that had led to this evening.

She kept thinking that perhaps she  deserved everything that had happened.
