A Taste of Magic
The next day, as the morning sun climbed high, casting bright, lazy patches of light across the bedroom floor, Aen finally stirred.
She had slept long and deep, the kind of heavy, restorative rest that left her feeling groggy but entirely peaceful.
When she finally made it to the kitchen, she found Yoongi standing at the counter, already bustling about, his movements quiet and efficient as he finished plating their breakfast.
Hearing her footsteps, he looked up, offering a small, soft smile before he moved toward her.
He reached out to gently kiss her on the forehead, murmuring, "Hi, my sleepyhead," before he pulled out her chair.
A steaming mug of millk was already waiting at her place, while his coffee sat nearby, the rich, dark aroma mingling with the bright scent of the morning air.
He finished setting a small plate beside her drink, then finally settled into his own chair across from her, giving her the space to wake up slowly in the warmth he had created.
Aen took a slow sip of her milk, feeling the morning quiet settle around them.
She looked across the table at him, her eyes bright with curiosity.
"So, Yoon... where are we off to today? Do we have anything planned?"
Yoongi hummed thoughtfully, watching her over the rim of his coffee mug.
"I thought we'd take it slow today. Maybe head to the local market for some fresh fruit, and then we have the rest of the day to ourselves. Nothing too demanding."
"Ohhhh... I like that," she replied with a genuine smile.
She turned her attention to her toast, taking small, content bites as she listened to the soft sounds of the morning.
It wasn't until she finished the last piece that a sudden, specific craving hit her-an avocado and banana dessert, with a bit of powdered milk, sugar, a splash of water, and ice.
It was a familiar favorite, something she had made dozens of times.
She stood up from the table, moving to the counter to gather the ingredients, setting them out with a practiced, anticipatory rhythm.
She cut the banana and scooped the avocado, putting them into the bowl.
She carefully measured the milk and sugar before adding them, and lastly, topped it all off with the ice cubes.
She quickly mixed it all together, but as she sat back down at the table and took her first bite, her expression dropped into a disappointed pout.
Yoongi, who had been watching her with a soft smile, suddenly frown.
When he saw her expression fall, he didn't hesitate-he stood up, moved around the table, and pulled his chair right up next to hers, his brow furrowing in that familiar, protective way.
"What's wrong?"
"It doesn't taste good," she murmured, pushing the bowl away.
"What do you mean?"
He picked up the spoon she had been using and took a taste, his expression turning thoughtful.
"It tastes the same to me, Yeobo. It's the exact sweetness you usually like."
Aen took another tentative bite, searching for the flavor she was missing, but it just wasn't there.
