Steady Ground

The drive back to the villa was quiet, the weight of the ultrasound printout in Yoongi's pocket acting as a silent, comforting tether between them.

When they finally stepped inside, the villa felt different-more like a sanctuary than just a vacation rental.

Yoongi moved with a new, quiet efficiency.

Before Aen could even settle onto the sofa, he had returned from the kitchen with a plate of freshly peeled tangerines.

He sat beside her, his movements gentle and deliberate as he held out a slice, his eyes searching hers for the slightest sign of fatigue.

Aen took the piece, the citrus bright and refreshing, and as she ate, the tension of the clinic finally began to drain from her limbs.

"Is it good?" he asked, his thumb brushing a stray drop of juice from her lip.

"Mmmm... So yummy," she whispered, already feeling her eyelids grow heavy.

The morning's events, combined with the relief of knowing their little one was healthy, left her drifting into a deep, serene nap before she even realized it.

When she woke, she was in the bedroom and it was now bathed in the soft, golden hues of late afternoon.

Yoongi was there by her side, his body angled toward her.

His hand rested flat against her stomach, a steady, warm weight that made her breath hitch.

He wasn't looking at her; he was staring at the space where his hand rested, his expression lost in a quiet, reverent wonder.

As she shifted, he looked up, his eyes softening instantly.

"You're awake," he murmured.

Aen stretched slowly, her gaze drifting toward the window, taking in the long, orange shadows of the setting sun.

She felt the warmth of his hand still pressed against her, and a soft smile touched her lips.

She turned to face him, finding his eyes-that quiet, intense focus in them making her heart swell.

"What was the itinerary supposed to be today, Yeobo?" she asked softly.

"Before everything?"

Yoongi didn't answer right away, his hand tightening just a fraction against her stomach.

Noticing his hesitation, Aen shifted further, propping herself up on her elbow so she could look down at him properly, her expression open and reassuring.

"It doesn't matter," he said, his voice clipped.

"That plan is gone."

"I'm okay, really. You don't have to worry so much."

His jaw tightened, a flash of something dark and protective crossing his features.

"I don't want you to faint like you did yesterday, Aen. I'm not taking those kinds of risks again."

Aen reached out, covering his hand with hers, her touch grounding.

"I know, and I'm thankful," she said, her voice steady and kind.

"Just tell me what the plan was. We don't have to go if you're worried-I promise I won't push it. I just wanted to know what you had in mind for us."
