The Best Gift
Aen felt a bit anxious while they were inside the mall since people kept looking their way.
It wasn't helping that they were speaking Korean, so she was afraid someone might notice who Yoongi was and cause a scene.
Although she wouldn't allow anyone to hurt him and was ready to fight to protect him, she knew that once she was hurt as well, Yoongi would also risk his safety just to protect her.
So she hoped no one would try to mob them.
After they successfully bought the gifts-with Yoongi once again effortlessly using his Black Card to settle the total-they headed toward the currency exchange counter.
Aen had suggested they do this before leaving the mall and heading to her hometown.
She knew from experience that it would be much more difficult, if not impossible, to find a place that would exchange Korean Won once they were further away from the city.
They needed the local currency for the smaller stops and the two-day trip ahead.
Yoongi waited patiently by her side as the teller processed the exchange, his eyes scanning the mall crowd from behind his mask while Aen handled the transaction in a mix of English and the local dialect.
Even with a pocket full of premium credit cards, he understood the necessity of having Pesos in hand for the more traditional parts of her home.
Once the cash was safely tucked away, they also bought some groceries since she was not sure if there were things they needed that couldn't be bought in her place.
They also bought some light snacks for them and the driver to eat and drink while traveling.
Once done, they asked for help from some of the staff in the mall to carry all the things they bought to the van outside the parking lot.
When the driver saw them, he opened the back of the van to place the items and afterwards, they gave tips to the staff for their help.
Once seated in the van, Aen felt a wave of relief since they survived the mall without getting smothered by people who might might have recognized Yoongi.
"You okay?" Yoongi asked as he took off his mask, letting out a small breath of relief.
He kept his cap on to stay somewhat low-profile through the windows, but with the mask finally off, he could breathe properly again.
The heat in the Philippines was no joke, and even with the van's air conditioning blasting, the humidity made the mask feel stifling.
"Yeah... I'm just glad no one mobbed us. I really don't want you to get hurt." Aen replied.
She reached over and gently wiped the sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief.
Yoongi closed his eyes for a second, enjoying her touch, before a playful smirk formed on his lips now that his face was fully visible.
"Ohhh? What would you do if we did?" he teased, leaning slightly toward her.
"I would protect you, of course. I won't let anyone hurt you here under my watch."
Yoongi chuckled.
"Is that so?"
Aen nodded, and Yoongi patted her head as he looked at her lovingly.
"I'll be in your care then, Jagi."
Aen blushed and burrowed her face in Yoongi's chest.
"O-of course. I'll take good care of you like always."
