The Protective Instinct
Yoongi was restless all night.
He hadn't been able to fall asleep much these past few days-especially after that talk with Aen.
Things had become so messed up, and he bitterly regretted not reaching out to her in time back then when she was about to leave.
To be honest, he had been taken aback when she told him everything-about having a child with her past lover.
It was the primary reason she felt they couldn't be together.
Aen was consumed by guilt, believing she had betrayed him.
His heart ached for her because all he could do at that time was listen while she broke into pieces.
Yoongi pulled his hair in frustration and sighed.
He didn't know what to do anymore.
But one thing was for sure: it wouldn't be long until the media found out.
Although it wasn't s punishable by law, having a child with someone other than your soulmate was the ultimate taboo.
This information could make Aen an outcast, or worse, incite people to harass her.
Her life would be thrown into total chaos.
The thought of Aen getting hurt any more than she already had made him feel cold.
He couldn't allow anyone to hurt her anymore-not even himself.
He needed to do something, even if it meant he would get hurt in the process.
He fumbled for his phone and dialed Manager Sejin.
"Hello. Yoongi-sshi? Why are you calling at a time like this? Is there a problem?"
"Hello... Hyung-nim, I know it's sudden, but can you schedule a meeting with Bang PD-nim for me this Saturday? I need to talk to him. It's about my soulmate."
"Alright. I'll see what I can do."
"Thanks, Hyung-nim."
"No problem. Now get some rest."
"I will."
Manager Sejin ended the call, and Yoongi's home screen appeared.
His heart clenched, and he smiled sadly as he traced the image with his thumb.
He hadn't changed the background photo yet-and probably never would.
It was the only photo he had of her: a stolen picture of Aen inside his car, looking out the window while they were on their way to the CF shoot.
In Yoongi's eyes, she had looked mesmerizing.
He had taken it discreetly just to remember that moment.
He tried to recall why he liked her in the first place.
The reason was simple, yet it made her stand out: she was different.
She wasn't like the others who pushed their feelings onto him with hidden agendas.
Instead, she was the one who kept pushing him away.
He chuckled bitterly as the realization hit him.
It was probably his fault they had ended up in such a mess.
He was so afraid of losing her that, in his haste, he had pushed his feelings onto her without knowing her full story.
But even with the truth laid bare, his heart didn't waver.
