I found school a horrible bore.

I didn't want to be there at all.

Booker had to tell the teachers about my father incident, and as a result the whole school most likely found out within a few days. Some people gave me sympathy; some called me a slut behind my back. I was apparently a violent prostitute.

Interesting name...

I sat at one of the picnic tables, it was odd, I just finished year11 and was now in year 12 and I had no friends whatsoever in the school. Even before I did anything to anyone.

Prom was gonna be interesting thought then.

I started reading a textbook, it was the end of the day and I was waiting for Adam to come so we could walk home. I felt someone's presence and picked up my bag, "how was your day kiddo?" I asked looking up.

I froze when I saw Martin, who gave me a weird look, "umm... fine, you?" he replied.

I didn't return his charming smile, "careful, or I might bite your fingers off," I warned folding my arms, "what do you want?"

"Just came to talk," he replied.

"Well you've talked," I gave him a dismissive hand as I opened my book again, "and I have nothing to say to you, so go away."

Despite this, he sat down next to me. I shuffled away from him, but he followed me, "I wanted to apologise."

"For what? Being a bully, being some stupid jock or for disobeying my highly unsubtle request for you to leave me alone?" I asked looking at him, he had gorgeous eyes.

"I guess for all of the above, except the last one," he replied giving me a smile. Was this some sort of joke?

I looked around for his gang of idiots, but I couldn't see them nearby, they must've had binoculars or something. "I heard about your Dad," he informed, "that's rough." My insides turned to ice when I heard those words. So my suspicions were true, I was now the basket case of year12.

"And are you here to rub it in like everybody else?" I asked.

He didn't seem surprised by the bullying I described I got and shook his head, "no... but people can be very brutal..." he said, "If you ever need someone to help you out with anything I'm always here," he informed.

I stared at him, "why?"

"Why what?"

"Why any of this? Why are you in my presence? Why are you speaking to me? Why are you here? Why am I talking to you?" I closed my book and went to walk away, but he grabbed my arm softly which sent me into a cold frenzy that made me shiver. "Okay, here's another one; why are you touching me?" I was ready to bite off his fingers like carrots.

Marvin seemed to get my vibe and released me, "come on, Katie. I'm sorry for anything that I've done to upset you," he informed.

I turned around to him, "and why are you even bothering to apologise to me? Isn't merely talking to me gonna destroy your street cred?" I asked.

He shrugged, "I honestly don't care about that. Do you wanna go for a walk or something?" he offered gesturing to the gates.

A moment of flattery came over me, but it quickly passed, "can't. Gotta walk my little bro home," I replied giving him a smile, "maybe later."

He tilted his head, "Adam's you're brother?" he asked.

I shrugged, somewhat surprised that he even knew Adam's name "may as well be," I replied as I walked away before he could say anything else.
