Several days later...
Andy POV:
There was a commotion upstairs; someone was talking loudly, but just under yelling.
I started walking up and saw a man standing outside Katie's room. He looked official and was constantly knocking on her door, calling out to her. She eventually opened the door, but only a crack; I could hardly see her beautiful eyes.
"Katie O'brannel, I know that's you," the man snapped.
Then Katie replied with the oddest response, "me so sorry," her r's sounded like i's, "me no speak English. You have wrong house." She had a terrible thick accent anybody could tell wasn't real.
"Umm... excuse me?" I said as I approached.
The man turned and looked at me; he wore a fancy suit and had eyes that would intimidate a shark.
"And who are you?" he growled, he seemed annoyed, how long had he been at this?
"I'm Andy Merando, I own the building. What seems to be the problem?" I asked as he shook my hand; it was like shaking a gorilla's hand.
"My name is Edgar Morgan, Social Worker," he informed.
Social Worker... why was there a Social Worker here?
"Umm... has there been some sort of mistake?" I asked looking from shark-man to Katie's terrified eyes, "the only juvenile here is Adam and he's on the top floor."
He gave me the glare of death as he folded his arms, "I've had confrontations with this family before," he explained, "how old do you think this girl is?"
"She's 20 years old, that's way past being a juvenile," I informed.
He gave me a smile that sent a chill down my spine. "Katie O'brannel is 17 years old, she should still be in High School," he informed so matter-of-factly it was almost mocking. I looked at Katie for conformation, but she looked like she was about to start crying as she looked at the ground, "and her father has been looking for her for a while now, we all have, and it's in her best interest that she come with me."
"No it's not!" Katie lost it as she opened the door, "just go away would you! I thought when I turned sixteen it would be the end of this!"
Edgar laughed as he turned to her, "It's far from it," he informed grabbing her arm. She struggled in his grip as he attempted to drag her forwards.
"That's enough!" I snapped as I pried his hand off her. She immediately clung onto me, her whole upper body was trembling and her fingers were digging into my jacket.
He stared at me with the coldest eyes, how on earth was he a social worker?
And why was he so extensive to follow her out here?
I knew she had problems with her Dad, but this is a bit much?
He smirked as he made another attempt at her. I somewhat lost it as I grabbed his arm and pinned it around his back before pushing him back so hard he hit the wall. I released him. He looked flustered as he looked at his watch, "I'll be back in an hour, this time with the police. Either Katie goes back home, or you'll be arrested for kidnapping a minor," he threatened.
I continued to glare at him.
What was going on?
Katie lied about her age?
As he walked down the stairs, I rubbed my eyes in confusion as I turned to Katie; she looked so close to collapsing it was like watching a terrified puppy. "You have some serious explaining to do kid," I informed.
