they got on the bus tiredly, people had already started asking him questions about his mark which he didn't have an answer to, like "who is it?

mingyu responded the same to everything "i don't know" and he was being completely honest

he rested his head on seungcheol's shoulder tiredly and felt him caressing his hair "don't worry, you'll find them" he reassured

but mingyu wasn't tired or sad for not finding his soulmate, it was the exact opposite, he didn't imagine he would find them at such a young age

"why does it have to be someone from my school?" he thought to himself and pouted, it was probably going to be someone he didn't like

he didn't exactly hate the idea of meeting his soulmate, but he was afraid it was someone that wanted sex and he didn't want or need that drama in his life at the moment

all the search for his soulmate had left him exhausted so he started dozing off letting the older caress his hair, but just when he was about to fall asleep, a voice woke him up "hey mingyu, right?" he asked

he rubbed his eyes and looked at junhui, he was sitting on the seat in front of him but looking towards where he was

"um, yes?" mingyu asked confusedly, he had never talked to the guy, even though he had seen him around

"oh, i wanted to tell you something" he said excitedly and in almost a whisper

mingyu looked at his friends but they were asleep "oh, i don't know who gave me the mark, sorry" he said with a light smile

"yeah, i could tell, that's what i wanted to talk to you about, i know who gave it to you" he said with a sad smile

mingyu felt his heart skip a beat and gulped, he looked at his friends again to make sure they were asleep and whispered "are you sure?"

junhui nodded and then came closer to mingyu making him panic

"his name is-"

"i don't want to know" they said at the same time but junhui had actually finished talking and said a name mingyu nearly didn't catch

the both made shocked expressions "sorry, i didn't know you didn't want to know" the older said guiltily

"really? him? did i hear right?" mingyu asked

junhui looked around to see if anyone was listening to them and said "yeah, i saw when he fell on you yesterday" he said and looked a little sad

"it was pretty dark though, you could've seen wrong" mingyu said "and, why do you look sad?"

junhui sighed "look, since he was a freshman, i saw him and fell in love immediately" he took a deep breath with a grin "he's literally the most perfect boy i've ever met, you know, i tried so much times to ask him out, but he rejected me every single time, i didn't want to seem like a creep so i stopped insisting but i could tell he didn't like that because he mysteriously got my number and started texting me, however he kept rejecting me even though we kept texting each other a-"

mingyu stopped him "wait, are you in love with him? why are you telling me if you like him?" he asked

"i'm getting to the point, well, yesterday, i was about to talk to him when you guys were waiting in the treasure hunt, but just as i was about to get there, i saw a bunch of guys running towards you, i also got pushed but i did get to see when he and his friend got pushed, i saw he landed on you and wanted to go help but there was an injured person beside me so i had to help her instead" he said

"oh, so you actually saw him land on me?" mingyu asked

junhui nodded "when i was told you got the mark when someone pushed you, i immediately knew he gave it to you, at first i cried, actually i cried all night, well, i'm still crying a little right now, that's why my face is so swollen, i obviously didn't even doubt in telling you because even though i wish you weren't his soulmate, it would be unfair not to tell you because he deserves nothing more than happiness" he chuckled sadly and slightly started tearing up again "well, i'm still really disappointed but i guess i should get over it if it wasn't meant to be, congratulations, you are the luckiest man on earth" he said with the saddest grin mingyu had ever seen

the taller nodded "i'm sorry" he said guiltily

"it's not your fault that destiny gave you the best soulmate that could possibly exist" junhui said and then smiled at him before sitting down properly

"i can't believe it, xu minghao" the name kept repeating in mingyu's head
