-Excerpt from the story -
"Where did you think you were going, huh!" He screamed.
"I just assumed-" I...
I woke up to a loud ringing coming from the alarm. I quickly turned it off, but I didn't get all the way up. After a few minutes of just staring at the ceiling, debating on whether or not I should get up, I sat up. I slowly walked towards the closet and got one of the two things I brought with me.
I picked up a yellow spaghetti strap jacket with a white knit cardigan.

I didn't bring any fancy shoes, so I just put on the white Fila's I wore last night. It definitely wasn't my best look, but it would have to do. I set the clothes on the motel bed and got in the shower. I had to plan if I was going to start living independently. I knew I was going to have to get phone, some new clothes, and a new identity. I put on my clothes, I decided to just leave my hair down so it would cover my face. I could see my baby bump, but it just looked like I was getting a little chubby. I still wrapped the cardigan around my stomach in case. I checked the time on the alarm before heading to the motel office.
After walking down the stairs and into the office, I saw the old man. He still looked tired, but a little better than last night.
I placed 50 dollars on the desk before saying, "Do you know where the nearest phone store is?"
He didn't say anything, but he handed me a map with a whole bunch of stores on it, including a T-Connect on it. I thanked him before making my way in the direction of the store. I would probably have to get a bus pass, but I needed a steady income. I was starting to stress myself out with all the stuff I had to do. I started debating if I should just go back to Jay, but I snapped myself out of it. When Jay said he would kill me, he meant it. I shivered after remembering the texts but continued walking.
I eventually ended up in a plaza with the T-Connect a few stores away. I walked to the store and opened the door. There were an old woman and three employees in the store. I began looking at the android because I definitely could not afford an iPhone. I found a phone for 530 dollars and asked one of the employees if I could make a purchase. The employee got the phone from the back and began the process of buying a phone. I paid in cash and was about to leave before the old woman called me over. I was in a hurry, but I didn't want to be rude, and I'm glad I wasn't.
"Which phone do you think I should get?" the woman said.
I looked at the two iPhones in front of her and gave my opinion, "Well, the first one is newer, so it's supposed to be better."
"Dear, I want to thank you," she said, "Would you like to have dinner my treat?"
Usually, I wouldn't accept invites from strangers, but something about this woman made me trust her.
"Sure, what's your address?" I asked.
"Actually, I live in a cottage, it's easier if I just drive you," she said.
I became hesitant after she spoke, but I didn't really have anything to lose.
"Ok, I'll just meet you back here, what time?" I told her.
"Is 5 good?" she asked.
I nodded my head before leaving the store. I felt like I should be more worried, but I just wasn't.
