-Excerpt from the story -
"Where did you think you were going, huh!" He screamed.
"I just assumed-" I...
I opened the map and saw the school was only a few minutes of walking. I didn't have to be there at a specific time since I wasn't starting today, so I wasn't that worried. I began walking down the street while some grown men catcalled me. I hadn't been outside in so long I forgot how gross men could be.
I began to see a large beige brick building. No one was outside the building since the first period was already in session.

I opened the door and was greeted by a middle-aged Asian woman.
"Hello, how can I help you?" she said.
"I was looking into applying here," I replied.
"Ok, let me just call Principal Green to see if he's busy," she said before walking up to the phone on the wall.
I didn't really listen to the conversation until I heard her say to go into his office. I got up from one of the waiting chairs and headed into the large office. A middle-aged man with brown hair was sitting at the desk, he looked a little creepy.

"Sit please," he announced while gathering a stack of papers.
I sat down in the chair and patiently waited for him to finish whatever he was doing. My mind began to drift towards Jay when the man started speaking.
"Ok, it seems we have room for you, but you'll have to fill out these forms," he said.
I nodded my head before taking the papers from his hands. It wasn't a lot, but it would still take some time to fill out.
"You'll start next week, is that enough time to get settled?" he asked.
I nodded my head.
"What is your name?" he asked.
"Jasmine Wells, thank you for this opportunity," I said before saying goodbye and leaving.
I'm glad he didn't make me start tomorrow, that gave me plenty of time to get clothes, find a job, and set up my phone. The motel was close to everything, so I was back in my room in no time. I sat on the old bed and turned on my new phone.
30 minutes later
After a while, I finally set everything up. It was the afternoon by now, so I began looking at the jobs in the newspaper. There was an ad for a diner not too far from the motel, but once I got to the place, I would miss my dinner with the lady. I was definitely not gonna pass up a free meal, I can't just go spending my money on fast food. I decided to call the diner tonight and ask for an interview.
"Danny's Diner, how may I help you?" a man said.
"Hi, I was wondering if you have any waitress openings?" I asked.
"Actually we do, can you make it tomorrow for an interview?" he asked.
"Yes I can, what time?" I replied.
"Anywhere between opening and closing times, what's your name?"
"Si- Jasmine Well," I said, that was a close one.
"Ok, just say who you are tomorrow, and someone will help you," he said.
"Thank you!" I replied, "Goodbye."
I hung up my phone and checked the time, 4:30. I looked in the mirror quickly before heading back to the phone store.
