Next Week (Move-in day)

I had been packing up my stuff for the past week and taking it to Jay's, so now I just need to get my stuff from my moms and officially move in. Claire and I have been getting in arguments almost every day about my decision, and it's honestly none of her business.

Anyways, Jay texted me and told me he's on his way. I got my last box of things and waited for him outside since I didn't want to be near Claire. I know that Jay and I were moving fast, but that's only because we love each other. Plus, it's not like he's crazy, so I'm safe. Jay finally pulled up and I hurried to his car. I put the box in the back seat and got in the passengers.

"Hey, how are you doing?" I asked.

"I'm good, are you ready to go to your moms?" he asked.

I nodded my head and he began driving.

30 minutes later

When we arrived the lights were on, so I knew she was there. I knew that Jay was with me, but I was still scared.

"I'm gonna go in there alone, if I need your help I'll scream, I said, the neighbors won't call the police if I do, there used to it."

"I really don't think you should go in there alone, I'll just stand by the door," he said while taking off his seatbelt.

"No, it's fine, like I said I'll call if I need help," I said.

He clenched his jaw but relaxed in his seat again. I got out of the car and began walking up the driveway. I stood at the door for a few seconds before knocking.

"What do you want?" I heard my mother call out.

"It's Simone," I said.

There was a long pause, but then I heard the shuffling of feet. She cracked the door open to make sure it was me before opening it completely.

"Why are you here?" she said in an angry tone.

"I came to get my stuff," I whispered.

"Take what you want, I don't give a fuck, just leave me alone," she said and continued smoking a cigarette.

I walked up the stairs quietly and opened my door. My whole room was trashed. She must have been looking for money I thought to myself. I started grabbing things like my journal, and the $1000 I kept in the wall outlet for when I would finally leave. I got a few other things and placed everything in the bag I brought. I started to walk downstairs with a few tears in my eyes. She abused me, but I still couldn't help but remember how she was when I was younger and Dad was still alive. I wish we were still a happy family, and Dad never met Catherine, but that's a story for another time. I took one last look at my mom and started to open the door when she said, "I hate you,"

She had told me about how much she hated me before, but I thought since I was leaving for good she would be kinder. I guess you can't rely on drug addicts to love you. Although I was hurt, I didn't say anything and just continued out the door. I put my bag in the back with my box and got in Jay's car.

"How'd it go?" he asked.

I didn't respond and just looked at my childhood home through the window. All of sudden Jay grabbed my jaw and jerked my head to face him. He had a crazed look in his eyes and he began squeezing my face. I tried to pull away, but it only made him squeeze harder. I tried to tell him to stop, but my words were caught in my throat, but then he just let go. He started to drive away while I was shaking, I was confused as to why he did that. My cheeks and jaw felt sore, and when I touched them they stung.

Jay didn't say anything when we got to his house, he just stopped the car and went inside. I sat there for a while debating if I should just go back to Claire's, but then I realized all my stuff was here. You've already decided to stay here, just stick with the plan I told myself and got out of the car. I grabbed my bag and box and headed to the front door. I went inside and didn't see Jay, so I just went up to the guest room and set my stuff down. Before unpacking I decided to look at my face in the bathroom attached to my room. I gasped when I saw two bruises starting to form on both sides of my jaw. This wasn't my first time having a bruise on my face, but it was never from Jay. I went into the bag I had just gotten from my moms and pulled out some foundation. I started to cover the bruises even though it hurt when I hit them with my beauty blender. I finished cover my face and walked out of the bathroom to see Jay sitting on the bed. I stopped in my tracks and looked at him.

"Simone, I'm so sorry for grabbing you," He said, "I just don't like being ignored."

"I would never purposely hurt you, you know that right?" He asked.

I nodded my head and he walked up to me and gave me a hug. I flinched a little when he lifted his arms and he frowned, but still wrapped them around me. I knew he loved me and I believed him when he said it wouldn't happen again. Boy was I wrong.

1 month later

I've been living with Jay for a month now, and it's been pure bliss. Jay has been talking about how he wants to spend more time with me, so I've decided to do online school. Claire and I haven't been speaking since I go with Jay, and I honestly think she's just jealous that I'm happy. Jay goes out to bars with his friends a lot, comes back drunk, and yells or pushes me, but other than that we've been good. He takes really good care of me, and I'm so glad I met him.
